Gymnastics regional begins at 2:00

Today is a dual meet against Iowa State in what is essentially a play-in game. The Clemson/Iowa State winner will then advance to take part in the main portion of the regional tomorrow, with 8 teams divided into 2 quad meets. The top 2 teams from each quad then advance to the final on Sunday, where the top 2 teams from the final will then advance on to nationals.
The Tigers are ranked 8th out of the 9 teams in their regional, so finishing in the top 2 would likely be an uphill battle. But they are ranked ahead of Iowa State, so hopefully they can at least win the play-in meet today to advance to the semifinal quad rounds tomorrow. Anything beyond that would be a pretty significant overachievement, though it would obviously be sensational if they could pull it off.
The Tigers have seemed to have a high variability in their scores this season, with a couple of very strong performances and also some less stellar showings which were marred by costly mistakes. I think if Clemson can avoid the errors on beam and have one of their stronger overall performances in the other events, they should have a good chance to outperform their ranking. Regardless, it’s already been a great first year and this regional should be a fun watch.

Absolute gauntlet if they do beat Iowa State, but again a great barometer of where we are and where we need to grow.

We kinda got screwed from the judges on bars with all the waiting. Coach wasn't happy. Sadly we've had 2 falls which we haven't had all year. Not sure we can make this up unless Iowa St has a bad rotation on the floor or the beam. Dang it. I'm sure we were nervous to begin with... but then to have to wait.

and the uneven bars have been one of the Tigers really events that they have scored high in all saeson long...Hopefully they'll make up for it when it comes time for the balance beam and have the best showing in that event all season long,since it has been the toughest of all the rotations

by 0.250 points.
So close. Really got hurt on the beam. We had 3 a 9.775 or lower and they had all at 9.8 or higher, including two at 9.900. That and the one 9.275 on the bars.
Bummer. Hate it for them. Well... not bad for an inaugural season, though! On to next year!

The even bars is the one that really cost them since that came before the balance beam.The frustrating thing is is that the uneven bars have been there top event all season long along with floor exercises.I would say the long wait before the uneven bars did not help matters either and it showed with scores below 9.700,probably also nerves and first NCAA Championship meet in the first season too...Gonna have to go back to drawing board and recruit recruit recruit recruit

Yep, 95.65 I think is the lowest we had all season. We were a little bit off on all the rotations. The vault we did fabulous considering the first or 2nd one fell on the landing. Kinda puts pressure on the others and that's never good. Even the floor, we were under rotating a bit.
But the expectation was enormous and I'm sure that was felt from everyone. Great learning experience and I doubt we'll have a playin meet next year. I want to say we have 23 of 24 eligible to return. I'm sure some won't, others may transfer... who knows anymore with the crazy crapola in college athletics.
