Had a scare this morning
Aug 31, 2022, 7:38 AM

I've cut back on drinking lately. Been eating better (1 taco instead of 2), noticed my gut is starting to shrink some. I'm not on stubborn_tiger® levels of getting my life together yet, but I also don't look some diseased #### like clemsonrulez08®. Even my pants started fitting better.
Then I put on my pants this morning. Tight as ####.
Haven't drank a drop of alcohol since Sunday.
Luckily I dropped a massive heater when I got to work.
Pants now fit perfect.

I just figured out that I've not been eating enough

and that's stalled my gains and fat burning process. This past 3 weeks I've gone from a calorie deficit of about 700-1000 cals a day (2000 calories in, 3000 out) to a deficiet of about 300 cals per day (2700 in, 3000 calories out). Removed cardio and focused on not training into a deficit, just eating clean.
The adjustment has netted a visible decrease in the remaining little body fat I have. The body is a marvelous, sometimes counterintuitive thing. So I'm losing body fat, weight is slowly dropping (down to 192) and increasing 1RM all at the same time due just to diet...and I'm eating MORE.

That's what people don't realize when it comes to muscles

vs. fat.
The more muscles you build, the more fat you burn consistently because it takes more calories to maintain.
You have to eat to lift and you have to lift to burn calories.
You're not going to lift at 1k calories per day and gain muscles. You're actually going to hurt your body worse.

True this. And focusing on the wrong things

in the gym. I always say its better to do 3-5 sets of compound lifts than it is to eff with dumbells or machines. I have the best results when I focus on these, in this order:
1) Deadlifts 2) Squats 3) Overhead Press 4) Benchpress 5) Barbell Rows
If you're training heavy enough on those lifts, curls, kickbacks and abs isometrics are really a waste of time if your'e going for efficiency

There's a million ways to skin a cat. It all depends on what

your goal is.
If it's to be in overall better shape, combo lifts like those are great and recruit many different muscles.
If you just want big chest and biceps/tris then focused reps based on singular muscle groups are best.

APM can totally relate. Especially the booze pounds.

Amazing to me how relatively little alcohol (I like to drink some, but am a major lightweight) packs on the pounds in no time. Always happens to me at the beach (hence dry July) and during the holidays. I guess I could just not drink, but that ain't happening.
Anyhow, other than drinking a couple of weeks ago due to stress (NOT a good way of coping, but hey, only G-d can judge APM), I have been booze free lately and it shows in the gut. Was hoping to drink some this weekend but with the Tigers playing on Monday night, that probably is not happening. Might have a Bud Light at the pool for the last pool days this summer.

Alcohol contains 7 calories per gram

And your body metabolizes it first. So all those carbs on the back end that you're not burning...well you know what happens to those. They get stored in your moobs and belly

alcohol and replacing it with gummies. Then I finally accepted the late-night munchies were offsetting any benefit. Once I cut those out, I dropped about 10 pounds in a week.

I log in sparingly now, and all I see in my tmale is that you’ve tagged me just to call me diseased. Just two days after you told me my face was fat.
I’m doing my best, bb

Haven’t drank since Sunday. Me thinks he is talking like a week.
Says this less than a full 2.5 days since last drink. Not impressed.
