Have any other Tnetters been to a funny car race?

One of my coworkers just invited me to go see the funny cars, and that he and a bunch of gals in accounting had a bet that I would like it and come over later for drinks. I have never been to a drag show before, so I was curious what you guys thought about your first time?

Funny cars and drinking alcoholic beverages, after a while, those girls begin to look pretty good.

a couple of times in fact.
Do yourself a favor and take some noise cancelling ear protection. It's loud !!!
One of the times I went, in addition to the funny cars and the top fuel cars, they raced motorcycles and big semi trucks which was pretty cool. The trucks aren't nearly as fast unless it one of the jet powered trucks. They usually save those for after dark. The fire from the jet engines and the exhaust stacks is quite a show.

It can get very loud at the drag shows, especially in the restroom area.

I grew up going to Englishtown, NJ races
Funny car, rails, all sorts. The featured show was usually a jet car or rocket car. One time a rocket bike. Don “The Snake” Prudhomme is the only name I remember from the funny cars.

I enjoy speed so naturally I enjoyed the local drag show until I woke up in a bathtub full of ice the next morning.

Been to the demolition derby and figure 8 school bus races a couple of times and that was pretty funny but probably not funny like you, TB.

I went to a 600 mile long endurance race in Charlotte once. The race cars weren't very funny, but I was intrigued by the number of skinny men there were walking around toting a cooler of beer on one shoulder and their other arm around a fat girl with tattoos and smoking a cigarette. Very similar to what one might see at WB stadium.

Nothing funny about the drag show. However, you can tell it’s an athletic event. Those women are tall and muscular! I never did see any of the funny cars , although saw a few men laughing uncontrollably until they were rudely shown the door.

I’ve been to both, went to a drag show with some German friends once, apparently, that’s a thing for German people, And went to a funny car race down near Charleston one time. It was a blast.

I have an always wanted to watch that 4 wide deal in Charlotte. NASCAR will tickle the ears so I can’t imagine what drag would do. Just take the best of the best hearing protection.
