Total solar eclipse is less than 5 years away...

My first post here in a long time.
On Monday, August 21, 2017, there will be a total solar eclipse visible from coast to coast in the United States. It will hit land in Oregon and come right through South Carolina on its way to the Atlantic. Folks in Clemson, Greenville, Columbia, and Charleston and anywhere in between will be in complete darkness for over 2 minutes in the middle of the day.
I've known about this for a couple years but I just found this awesome map of where to see it. If you are anywhere in the gray area, you will be able to see the Moon completely block the face of the Sun. Outside of the gray area you can see only a partial eclipse.
Now back to your regularly scheduled bickering...

but momma, that's where the fun is.
There was an full solar eclipse around 1970-71 (can't remember exactly), and I remember mom telling me beforehand, "If you look at the sun tomorrow during the eclipse, you'll go to straight to hell."
40 years later, I still wish I had listend to her, because I've been to hell and back.

I was working industrial maintenance for the summer and we all ran out with welding helmets on - it was weird the darkness had a metallic edge to it and it got cold.

7th grade, Tanglewood Jr High in G'ville, science teacher took a couple of bus loads down state to see it. It was a state park down around Orangeburg as I recall.
