South Carolina Highway 171 is a 12.56 mile state highway in Charleston County that runs from the south end at Artic Avenue in Folly Beach, north to SC 7 in Charleston after crossing US 17.
 
Clemson's softball opponent, Gardner-Webb, is a private Christian liberal arts university in Boiling Springs, North Carolina. It was founded in 1905 as Boiling Springs High School, a private Christian school. It became Boiling Springs Junior College in 1928, Gardner-Webb Junior College in 1942, Gardner-Webb College in 1971, and Gardner-Webb University in 1993. GW has a 225 acre campus in the Blue Ridge Mountains with a little over 3,000 students in 9 colleges including business, nursing, sciences, and communication. The athletic teams, the Bulldogs, compete in NCAA Division I in the Big South Conference. Notable alumni include Artis Gilmore, Martin Whitaker, and Linda Combs.

Offensive linemen do not always get much love. Often, when they get noticed, it is more for negative reasons (such as missing a block) than for positive reasons (playing well, hitting blocks, and creating holes in the defensive front). But, as we know, the offense can only be as good as the offensive line play allows. Clemson OL Dalton Freeman (2009-2012) was one of those OL who allowed the offense to perform at a very high level!
Before Clemson:
Even before signing with Clemson, Freeman demonstrated that he was a true Clemson man. According to Bleacher Report he was recognized both on and off the field while attending high school in Pelion, SC:
In high school, Freeman won the Carolina Panthers Community Captain award, which is given to a football player from North or South Carolina who "demonstrated strong leadership skills on and off the field and encourages these individuals to continue to be leaders and role models in their communities."
Freeman was coached in high school by his father Ben, who was an offensive lineman during his collegiate years in the ACC.

The same Bleacher Report article (above) highlights Freeman’s accolades at Clemson:
Freeman finished his collegiate career tied for the school record in starts (49) and tied for fourth in total games played (53), according to his school profile.
Over that stretch of games, Freeman recorded 171 knockdowns on 3,361 offensive snaps.
As a freshman, Freeman played in all 13 games (nine starts) and had 44 knockdowns. He was named a freshman All-American.
The next season, Freeman started all 13 games and made 58 knockdowns. He allowed just two sacks.
National accolades started coming Freeman's way during his junior season, when he made 14 starts and tallied 41 knockdowns. The media made him a finalist for the Rimington Trophy (nation's best center) and a First Team All-ACC selection.
The recognition continued through his senior year. Over 13 starts, Freeman made 28 knockdowns. He was named a Second Team All-American and First Team All-ACC, along with an inclusion as a finalist for the Rimington trophy.

Impressive stuff!
After Clemson:
In 2013, Freeman signed as an undrafted free agent with the NY Jets. Between 2013 and 2016, Freeman spent time with the Jets, the Buffalo Bills, and the Houston Texans, mostly with the practice squads. He suffered an injury in 2016, his final NFL season.
