We both know you don’t have the social skills to actually meet. I’d give your fat butt a half a hill head start. You’ll fall down and roll like a fat blob until I run by you.

You scared, Andy? I’ll bet you $1,000 on your childish comments.

173 - Seattle Seahawks Drafted Byron Maxwell with Pick 173 in 2011 NFL Draft

When Clemson DB Byron Maxwell (2007-2010) arrived at Clemson he found himself behind some future NFL DBs such as Crezdon Butler and Chris Chancellor. According to ClemsonTigers.com, Maxwell did not see his being behind these older stars as not a bad thing. Maxwell saw it as an opportunity to learn and develop.

https://clemsontigers.com/clemson-football-game-program-feature-byron-maxwell/

Before Clemson:

According to the article listed above, Maxwell was a highly-rated rising senior at Fort Dorchester in North Charleston when misfortune struck. He tore his ACL and missed his senior season.

Maxwell tore his ACL during his senior year at Fort Dorchester High School, causing him to miss his final season with the Patriots.

“It was tough having to miss an entire football season, but I had support, so it turned out ok,” he said.

Despite the injury, Maxwell was still a highly-rated prospect coming out of high school. He ended up choosing Clemson over Georgia, South Carolina, and several other programs. Maxwell said he picked the Tigers because of their tradition.

“It was the Hill more than anything and the tradition that comes with Clemson,” added Maxwell.

At Clemson:

Maxwell redshirted his first year at Clemson as he was still working back from the torn ACL. Despite the logjam at DB, once Maxwell got on the field, he immediately started putting up impressive stats for Clemson. According to Sports-Reference.com, Maxwell’s Clemson stats were as follows:

By year:

2007:
- 29 Tackles (21 Solo, 8 Assisted)

2008:
- 47 Tackles (38 Solo, 9 Assisted)
- 2 Forced Fumbles

2009:
- 32 Tackles (20 Solo, 12 Assisted)
- 2 Interceptions for 4 Yards

2010:
- 44 Tackles (31 Solo, 13 Assisted)
- 2 Interceptions for 0 Yards

Clemson Career (2007-2010):
- 152 Tackles (110 Solo, 42 Assisted)
- 4 Interceptions for 4 Yards
- 2 Forced Fumbles

After Clemson:

The Seattle Seahawks selected Byron Maxwell with Pick 173 (Sixth Round) of the 2011 NFL Draft. They got a steal!

Maxwell played 8 seasons in the NFL (2011-2017) with the Seattle Seahawks, Philadelphia Eagles, and Miami Dolphins. According to the Football Database, he played in 82 games – starting 52 of those games. He put up the following NFL stats:

- 11 Interceptions with - 80 Yards in Interceptions Returns (7.27 Average)
- 245 Tackles (203 Solo and 42 Assisted)

Of note (according to Wikipedia):
On February 2, 2014, Maxwell started in Super Bowl XLVIII and made four solo tackles and forced a fumble in the third quarter of the Seahawks' 43–8 victory against the Denver Broncos. Maxwell was a key member of the Seahawks' "Legion of Boom" secondary during the end of the season and their playoff run to their first Super Bowl victory in franchise history.

More recently, Maxwell has become known for his philanthropic, generous spirit! According to IPTAY.com, his generosity has been invaluable for the P.A.W. Journey:

IPTAY has announced former Clemson Football player, Byron Maxwell (‘10) has given back to P.A.W Journey through a generous contribution to support the program’s current scholar-athletes. His gift will greatly impact the program and aid in the P.A.W. Journey mission to develop those within the Clemson Football program into strong leaders and professional young men.

“Byron Maxwell has enthusiastically given back to Clemson University and our football scholar-athletes with his time, talent, and treasure,” said Director of Career and Professional Development, Rashard Hall. “He’s given his time and talent by aiding in developing our young professionals through keynoting career transition programs, and now a monetary gift that solidifies his commitment to P.A.W. Journey and Clemson Football. Byron is joining a rare group of individuals who have given to the P.A.W. Journey Endowment to ensure that every football scholar-athlete who competes for the Tigers will also develop into first-class men and world-class leaders!”

FACTS.Net also praises Maxwell for his generosity:

Byron Maxwell is actively involved in several charitable initiatives. He organizes football camps and clinics for kids, providing them with the opportunity to learn and develop their skills. He also supports various charitable organizations and participates in community service activities.

South Carolina Highway 173, known as School Street, is a 1.57 mile two-lane rural state highway that starts on the west end at SC 27 in Ridgeville and travels east to where US 78 turns into US 178.

Did a writeup on Sunday's softball opponent, Fordham, on Saturday, so I'll do the other. Longwood is a public university in the town of Farmville, Virginia near the Appomattox River in the heart of Virginia. It started in 1839 as Farmville Female Seminary, aka Longwood College, as the third oldest college in the state. It became coeducational in 1976 and gained university status in 2002. Longwood has 5,000 students on a 154 acre campus in colleges of arts and sciences, business and economics, and education and human services. The sports teams, the Lancers, compete in NCAA Division I level in the Big South Conference. Notable alumni include Gene Grabeel, Indira Etwaroo, and Jason Mraz (dng).
