Back to your subject, Houthis might be getting close to triggering a significant military response. Guessing all the listed countries are consolidating intelligence regarding retaliatory strikes.

Hmmm... ISIS vs Iran. If I were to use a college football analogy it is kind of

like picking a side between UGA vs USuC - I want them both to lose and can take joy in whichever one does lose. Would be quite nice for ISIS and Iran to start earnestly offing one another.

Back to the Houthis - I certainly hope the White House and the nations in the Joint Statement are about to lay the smack down on the Houthis - they have earned every bad thing coming to them.

I do find it hypocritical, however, that while the White House condemns the Houthis they seem to ignore the culpability of the very country that empowers them - Iran. It sure would be nice if the White House would publicly call out Iran over their propping up of the Houthis. Of course that might actually require the Biden Admin to acknowledge that Iran is still a lying bastion of evil and not someone with whom a lopsided "peace" deal can be genuinely made....

I suspect we'll wait until something bad happens to take any really aggressive action. This is not a difficult problem. Reducing this threat does not require a lot of planning or intel.

Biden removed the Houthis from the terrorist designation in February 2021. We are reviewing the redesignation of the Houthis as a terrorist group. I guess we need more assaults on shipping before we can make such an audacious leap.

Robert Gates, Secretary of Defense under Obama referring to Biden when he was the Veep, "I think he has been wrong on nearly every major foreign policy and national security issue over the past four decades."

Biden is very risk averse. There is a time for caution and there is a time to act. It is past time to respond very forcefully to the Houthis.
