1. The hotest seat belongs to mystery man number 1. In 12 years this guy has posted records of.....6-5, 1-10, 4-7, 6-6, 1-10, 1-10, 6-4, 7-4, 9-3,9-3,10-3, 8-4, 7-5. He only won 48% of his games his first 12 years and somehow the dope put up THREE 1-10 records. EVERYONE says he's a lousy game day coach. Never won a conference title. I cannot believe he's still at the Division 1 level. Tigers own this guy.
2. Mystery man number 2 has won only 51% of his games in his first 12 years. He's been up and down and mostly very much middle of the road going....8-3, 4-7, 7-4,9-2,7-3,7-4, 2-9, 3-8,6-4, 6-5, 5-6, 2-8. What a joke. He's got two TWO win seasons, a three win season and a four win season. He must still be living off that one 9 game winner.
3. Mystery hot seat coach number 3 went a LONG way on the strength of ONE spectacular 11-1 season. I guess that let him survive his 1-9 disaster. His record through 12 years? 6-2-1,7-3, 8-3,5-3-2,9-3,11-1,8-4,5-4-2,7-2-1, 1-9, 8-3 and 5-4-1. It's a respectable but not guady 62% of games won record. One louser in 12 isn't really too bad and that 62% is about like Ole Hot seat Tommy at Clemson. Anyone name this guy?
4. Mystery man number four only has 11 seasons and he's rung up two losers and a bunch of 8 game winners. It is a respectable 67% of games won, sort of like Tommy Bowden's 65% through 10 years but some of those games came at a lower level. Beats me why this guy stays in the game at all.
5. Coach Five is a newcomer. He's only been in the game for 7 total years. He has put up two nine game winners but what I notice most is all the SIXES. With a record of 9-2,6-5,6-6,7-5,6-6,9-2 and 8-4, he doesn't look like he'll ever get to top dollar does he? You wouldn't really expect that 62% winning percentage to pay big, would you. I say fire this guy.
I'm not really suggesting we compare Tommy Bowden to Mack Brown, Frank Beamer, Bear Bryant, Bobby Bowden or Nick Saban, but the numbers are interesting to me. Perhaps we aren't the kind of fans and this isn't the kind of time that a fellow can start off just a bit slowly and still be a big winner. I dunno about us.
Tommy Bowden's been coaching ten years. He's never had a loser and he's won 65% of his games. I guess a lot of guys with that sort of record spend time on the hot seat.
