We were told by 50 former US intelligence officials that this laptop was Russian disinformation...

You linked "justthenews", which I figured was below you, but I guess not. The answer to your question can be found elsewhere if you look.

“This is not an admission by Mr. Biden that Mac Isaac (or others) in fact possessed any particular laptop containing electronically stored data belonging to Mr. Biden,” the filing says. “Rather, Mr. Biden simply acknowledges that at some point, Mac Isaac obtained electronically stored data, some of which belonged to Mr. Biden.”

Tabby, Fox News and the various Murdoch outlets have lied so much about the laptop even the context of it is murky.

The actual facts, that nobody disputes: a legally blind computer repairman claimed somebody he couldn't identify left his laptop at his shop. Apparently - and in complete contravention of any computer-repairman ethics - the repairman then went onto the laptop and started looking through personal files. After nosing around in those files for awhile, he apparently became alarmed by their contents and decided to turn the laptop over to the FBI - the repairman couldn't decide if the Feds contacted him or he them, and claimed both in the same interview. But before he did that, he made a copy of the laptop's contents. (Again, no legit repair guy would ever do this...copying someone's data without consent? Are you kidding me? Who would ever leave their computer at a repairman's shop if they did that kind of thing? And if you're fulfilling your civic duty and turning the thing over to the authorities, why make a copy again?)

Allegedly, time passed. The repair guy decided that the FBI wasn't doing anything - keep in mind, this was during the freakin' Trump administration, which means Bill Barr was the attorney general at this point - and in some inexplicable and unexplained way Rudy Giuliani and Steve Bannon got involved, and he at that point decided the repair guy decided he needed to go to the press. The Murdoch press, of course. And the story was then broken by a young woman reporter with exactly zero stories to her name (who incidentally used to be a staffer for Tucker Carlson) who claims she didn't even write the thing, because no other reporters at the Murdoch-owned New York Post would put their name on it,.

This is what the repair guy had to say when questioned by actual reporters. The audio's right there. Sounds totally legit, and this is exactly why the press turned their noses up at the story initially. The story of how the laptop repair guy obtained the laptop and what he did afterward wasn't even remotely credible.

Some of the data on the laptop probably is authentic. Hunter might actually get charged. But the origin story is complete Fox News BS and if Hunter is charged, the Feds won't even mention the laptop because its chain of custody is so effed if they so much as mention it in court the trial is over right there.

The REAL story here continues to be that social media outlets and News outlets took it upon themselves to decide what was true and was not true and actively attempted to block it from being reported.

The press got rolled by the Murdoch machine in 2015, when Murdoch outlets rolled out their "October Surprise" involving Hillary Clinton, which about a gazillion Russian bots operating out of Russia's Internet Research Agency in St. Petersburg then amplified massively all over social media. It was straight disinformation and the Murdochs knew it, and the social media companies were (rightly) blamed for their role in the helping spread that disinformation. It almost certainly played a role in Donald Trump walking away with an unlikely win in the 2016 election. (Hillary's own lazy, complacent campaign and her own intrinsic lack of quality as a candidate was the other reason...she was a mediocre candidate on her own merits, and she also inherited huge amounts of that near-bottomless Clinton baggage.)

But it absolutely happened, and it did impact our election...how much so, I dunno if we'll ever really know. Would Donald have won without that push? Again, I dunno. There's actually Clemson professors who made a massive study of categorizing the various "troll accounts" operated by the Russians, which Silicon Valley then added to with forensic IP analysis. The list of Russian troll accounts was astoundingly long.

By the way, the IRA was built by Yevgeny Prigozhin. He's the ex-convict oligarch who is basically Russia's #1 mob boss, the same guy who operates that Wagner Group that's even now laying siege to the Ukrainian town of Bakhmut by throwing waves of convicts as meat shields at the Ukrainian defenses. Great guys.

That's the actual context, and why the press and social media thought they were being had again in 2020 when the Murdoch media rolled out yet another October Surprise a month before the election, and the press refused to be led around by Fox News this time around, and the social media companies started zapping posts on the story left and right. They weren't going to be had again.

Once burned...and sorry, whatever connection Foxworld had to the MSM at that point was pretty much gone. The MSM now largely regards Fox News as the propaganda and disinformation arm of the GOP. And they definitely brought it upon themselves.

All the Fox News whining in the world isn't going to make it credible again. As a news agency, Fox is blown. Agree with this analysis or don't, but it's a good indicator of the regard Fox News now stands in with the actual press.

Mar 17, 2023, 4:06 PM [ in reply to So, even if Fox News accidently got this right - we still ]

When you say news outlets and social media "took it upon themselves to decide what was true and was not true" it was at that point a copy of a copy that Rudy had provided to the NY Post that they refused to share with anyone else to authenticate. They literally had no way of knowing if it was true.

So you are more concerned about the repairman's story based on your OPINION about the computer repairman code of ethics than about China paying the Biden family?

All we know that's true is that Hunter and some others did business with people located in China. That's a long way from Joe Biden being guilty of something. To complain about a family member (neither of whom work for the government) making money from foreign countries, is so incredibly hypocritical at this point, I don't even take you seriously.

is quite disappointing to see that this thread got sidetracked into the typical "bash the sources" kind of mantras. The typical team blue vs team red partisanship came out and I think my not so subtle point kind of flew over everyone's head or was summarily ignored...

Forget what may or may not be on that laptop - the sheer stupidity of this lawsuit really makes me wonder if Hunter is back on the crackpipe. Does no one other than me find it a dumb move for Hunter Biden to be filing a lawsuit against the computer shop owner?

Let me explain... One indisputable fact is that during a 2020 Presidential race, Joe Biden would never emphatically state that this computer repair shop was ever in possession of Hunter Biden's laptop. Joe would never say "yes it is Hunter's laptop" or "no it is not Hunter's laptop". Instead, anytime something about this laptop was raised (whether it was a direct question or in regards to something supposedly found on the laptop) Joe would constantly obfuscate and sidestep the issue by often referring to the 50 US intelligence officials and their assessment that the whole "laptop story" was a classic Russian disinformation campaign.

Overall, the Biden campaign went to great lengths to put a lid on this whole Hunter laptop story. They directly and indirectly used their media and social media surrogates to promote a "Russian disinformation" narrative and to their political credit - their narrative largely worked. The MSM essentially ignored or outright refused to delve into the laptop story while the major social media sites suppressed or censored it. The result - no one, short of political junkies and those folks who were already not going to vote for Joe Biden saw or followed the Hunter laptop story.

So now, after Joe Biden, his campaign, and all their leftist friends in the media had for the most part successfully buried this laptop story, crackhead Hunter decides to dig up the whole issue again by filing a lawsuit against the repair shop owner. At a minimum the lawsuit will make an emphatic statement that the computer repair shop did in fact have Hunter Biden's laptop. It can also raise questions as to when Papa Biden knew this and will start a whole bunch of questions regarding Biden's honesty in dealing with this matter. Those are questions that have nothing to do with the laptop's purported contents but rather knowingly spreading a false narrative (i.e. Russian disinformation) and using the MSM and social media companies as his willing accomplices.

Just seems to me that Hunter's lawsuit has the potential to create a whole lot of political headaches at a time when "the big guy" is looking at running for re-election and would prefer to have kept Hunter and the sordid laptop story mostly buried.
