When people believe something completely absurd with absolutely no concrete evidence only because it comforts them due to their insecurity with the world, it's important that normal society not allow their conspiracies to gain serious traction.
Ridicule has proven to be the best method. These folks can't be reasoned with facts because proving someone wrong only makes them dig in deeper to their belief. But shame is a powerful weapon, and it teaches them that if they want their opinions taken seriously in real discussions, they have to keep quiet about their silliness.
For example, the birds aren't real people. They're the same level as The Big Lie people. If one of them insisted to you that birds aren't real and they're government spy drones regardless of any facts you showed them (even a dead bird), how would YOU address them?
Would you be nice and cuddly and understanding? Or would you call them out for the fools they are?
