How do you see Kurt Flemming fitting in with the offense

Apr 17, 2014, 12:18 PM

this fall? I thought he was very impressive in the spring game, and looked too good as a RB to ride the pine all fall. I haven't seen enough to know if he could be an every down back, and I don't expect him to be, but he looks to be too much of a weapon to be relegated to an occasional touch in mop up. He's big and physical enough to run straight over people, but he showed really good speed too.

I know we're deep at RB - Whaddaya think?

A more powerful Darrel Smith.

Short yardage back, will takeover Tajh's 3rd and less than 5

Short yardage back that will give Cole a powerful runner or

a great blocker to follow through the hole.

I think you get a point for using RELEGATED. Good work! :)*****

People were complaining that Cole Stoudt isn't a runner,

Apr 17, 2014, 12:33 PM

But with our group of RBs, he won't need to. Fleming can get the short yardage carries that Tajh used to get, CJ Davidson can run sweeps, Wayne Gallman can run powers, etc. the weight that Tajh had to carry due to no power back will be non existent for Cole, thanks to Fleming. Plus, he can run as a TE, as well, for blocking or catching, I'd bet.

May be our second fastest back behind CJ Davidson

he's got legit 4.4-4.5 speed which is great for how big he is. I'd love to see him play a lot. But he's gotta learn how to pass protect before he can see extended playing time.

Judging from the Spring game, he did a great job pass

protecting...

I thought so too.***

I though CJ did a very good job blocking recently. He may be a complete back option come Fall.

Nothing can take the place of a dual threat QB, it effectively gives you a numbers advantage vs defense when you run the read option. I see more teams stacking the box to stop the run until Stoudt proves he can beat them with his arm.

And Stoudt will be called on to keep it a few times each game, it's just how our offense runs with tempo making the d think about what could happen. I hope he knows how to slide and can stay healthy.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

That's just it - he seems to be a lot more than your typical

short yardage power back, yet because of his size and power, that's all people can perceive him to be. I hope that misperception can work to his advantage.

Probably that FB/TE position that Darrell Smith played.

How about punts and kick returns?

If he has good hands, he would be a terror in that role.***

When his videos came out on TigerNet two or three months
ago, had a lot of him returning punts.

Short yardage back with great potential as a runner and a blocker both. He brings that element of power to the backfield that will balance our offense and help both our other RBs and Stoudt succeed.
