And current president are under investigation at the same time? Odds are getting better. Several folks I follow (nonpartisans) have pointed out the smoke and said it would be foolish to think there may not be a fire.
Here's a familiar name I've posted before, who used to write at Popehat with Ken (who I posted yesterday). Interesting discussion.

Rare indeed would be an occasion in which Biden and Trump are to be simultaneously under investigation.
Any formal investigation into Biden would probably last 8 hours. That’s not much time for the next 6 investigations into Trump’s alleged crimes for cruelty to animals (pond turtles at Mar a Lago golf course) to overlap.

“The Democrat-led House Select Committee to Investigate Jan. 6 doctored a key piece of its evidence, adding audio to silent U.S. Capitol Police security footage used to create a dramatic video montage for the opening of its primetime hearings last summer, according to a Just the News review of the original raw footage and interviews.
In at least two instances identified by Just the News, the panel's sizzle reel that aired live and on C-SPAN last June failed to identify that it had overdubbed audio from another, unidentified source onto the silent footage. Multiple current and former Capitol Police officials as well as key lawmakers and congressional aides confirmed that the closed-circuit cameras that captured the video do not record sound and that it was added afterwards.
A former spokesman for the Jan. 6 committee told Just the News that the panel was supposed to clearly mark any video that was dubbed with another audio source, and it did so on some occasions in the sizzle reel.”

Hunter's plea deal.
The current DOJ absolutely does not want to go in front of Congress and provide all the information/evidence they have on Hunter (or Joe Biden for that matter). As long as they can play the "ongoing investigation" game they have an excuse to withhold almost anything they desire from Congressional inquiries into Hunter Biden.
The Judge was smart enough to ask if the DOJ was still investigating Hunter Biden and at that point the DOJ was put in a catch-22. Either the DOJ admit to an ongoing Hunter Biden investigation and essentially crush their overly generous plea deal (which by all appearances was crafted to give Hunter Biden every possible leniency at their disposal), OR admit no further investigation is happening at which point the DOJ loses justification to avoid more Congressional scrutiny.
Let's face it - it is very doubtful Hunter Biden will ever see a jail cell as Daddy Biden has the ability to prevent it. What the politicos in the DOJ are doing through these overly generous plea deals is trying to avoid prosecuting Hunter to the fullest extent of the law (i.e. sending him to jail) in order to shield Daddy Biden from having a choice of letting Hunter go to jail or pardoning that POS crackhead. If Hunter is convicted and Daddy pardon's him the political fallout will be very damaging - something Biden and the very political DOJ want to avoid.
