Would appreciate TV advice

My YouTube payment method needs to be updated. Does anyone recommend a better option since they have raised rates? We also have so much trouble with buffering. Any thoughts?

No problem with Hulu live and we get accn on top of all the games Clemson would play. Different packages for preferences

Buffering would be on your end, not the provider. Have you updated your modem and router lately? When I first started streaming I had terrible issues with buffering. My modem was old and my provider swapped it for a newer model. I also updated to the latest wireless router. We can now stream in two tv’s with no problem. I also use Hulu live during football season

I think that sometimes - depending on where the signal originates - the buffering can be at the service source. As an example, I watch Fox News and CNBC through LiveNetTV (a free service). I get buffering and freezing on both channels and I highly doubt that the buffering originates at Fox or CNBC.

In attempting to correct the issue I have bought a new modem, a new router and installed wireline adapters. The problem has been improved, but not completely corrected.

The link below has a couple of suggestions that I have just implemented today - namely using MX video player and making some Codex changes within the player software settings. I already had tried the MX player, but had not until a few minutes ago made the HW+ software codex changes. So far, so good:

I forgot to include the information that my 3 streaming devices are all FireTV Stick 4K and the same problem existed on all 3.

If buffering is a problem, try to hardwire your TV/box to your router, and see if that fixes it.
If you can't do that, try a Powerline adapter to hardwire between router and TV/box. You need 2 of them.

If you want to switch from YouTubeTV, then DirecTV Stream is good.
If your TV or streaming device is old and bogged down, then get a new Amazon Fire TV Stick 4K Max, get an Amazon Ethernet Adapter for Amazon Fire TV Devices, and hardwire the Fire Stick to your router.

Agree with all except the Amazon Firestick...

I have both 4k Roku boxes and the Amazon 4k Fire TV sticks (have direct Ethernet connections on both).... Roku provides a much better picture with no fast motion jitters that occur way to often with Amazon's Fire stick. I highly recommend the Roku over Fire TV stick....

If you want the absolute best picture, get the Nvidia Shield Pro 2019, with it's AI upscaling. I have 2, and these work great, get updates regularly, passthrough TrueHD and DTS-MA audio, but they cost $175. The advantage of Amazon Fire, and Nvidia Shield, over Roku is that you can install any Android app on these, giving you a lot more flexibility over time, especially if you have any interest in IPTV or high-end audio. And the Amazon 4k Max at $26 sale price is really a great deal.

Sometimes setting these up can be tricky. Every 4K TV upscales every signal that is less that 4K. But how you set your device and TV settings determines if the TV or the streaming device is doing the upscaling. Sometimes a newer TV will upscale better than a streaming device; sometimes it's the other way around. But with any device you can set it either way, and each one will look different.

with no fast motion jitters

This is usually due to the Refresh Rate setting on the TV and device. These have to be set correctly to eliminate this issue.

Spectrum. Call them up and negotiate. It's a little more than streaming but worth it for me. No buffering and I can watch 3 or more games at the same time. Pause one flip during the commercial and flip to next game. Come back and fast forward through the commercials. All from one simple to use remote. When you add in the internet and streaming I probably pay $50 more per month.

I saved over $100 a month going from Spectrum to Youtube and like it much better. I still have Spectrum internet and landline, but the TV part had gotten ridiculous. Of course they want me back and offer those great deals, but they are only for a year and they sock it to you again.

call a provider before they raise rates. Tell them that they need to lower the rate or you are switching. Usually, you'll get a small discount.
