I ask this in all seriouness..what are the anthem protestors

protesting? Kapernick started it by protesting the way he felt black people were targeted by police from what I understand. Then a few more joined in because of various "injustices".
But now a ton of them are doing it..is it because the President tweeted he thought the owners should let the protestors go(be released)? Is this a primarily partisan thing against the President? Or is there some other issue they are coalescing around?

It's turned into being all about attention. If the cameras & media talks came off the guys doing it, it'd all stop. If you're interested, look up CK's bio, then decide for yourself if he really had a case to start doing what he did.

Trump has again shown a unique mastery of the bully pulpit. by highlighting the kneeling in the way he did, he pitted a relative small group of NFL personnel and the media against the people who love their country and take offense to demonstrations by these multi millionaire entertainers.
yes, it seems it is all partisan now, but by it starting in football, there is a popular backlash which may result in noticeably lower revenues for the media and the teams.

of the states business than any former President ever. Trump is correct as usual. But you liberal snowflakes do not like the fact that he is right so you come up with some bull crap so you can try to cut down the President. Get on board or move to North Korea. Just make sure you unpack five minutes before our Military lights up the country like the 4th of July.

You might wanna tone down the anger. You want someone to move to NK so they can get killed by our military just because they disagree with you? You're pathetic.

Move the cameras and don't write about it and it will disappear but those 2 things won't happen. Blacks also hate Trump because he beat Hillary even though they don't know why minorities should vote Democrat.

they simply happen to be black people with money and celebrity, which gives them some actual power to try to deal with social injustice. And if you think being rich and black means this isn't an issue for them, ask one of the many, many successful black people in this country who routinely get pulled over for driving while black if money or success are at all helpful in not being racially profiled by police.

I want to know what the end game is. What event or correction of an “injustice”...what wrong must be made right.....what event are they waiting for? What is the end game? What will make those sitting / kneeling no longer protest? I haven’t heard an answer yet.

Actually it’s not. While I dont disagree with you, that should absolutely be a goal and the killing of any innocent person is an injustance but how are they measuring that? At what level or what event....what will make someone say “ok, we did it” or “now we are there”
Your smart $$$ answer does not answer it.

I’m starting to think that these protesters deep down are racist themselves. If they are protesting police brutality, well that happens to people of all races....whites are no exception and there only seems to be an outcry when an African American is a victim.
Also, there are players now doing the black power symbol....how is that acceptable? If a player did some sort of white supremacy symbol they’d be banned for life from the league.

when they stop using words like "us" and "my people"
Sep 24, 2017, 6:24 PM

And "my brothers" I'm might start caring. Black people mindset is an us vs them mentality. Many many White people don't think that way. It's all or nothing for them and their playbook comes straight from liberal politicians. Imagine if white people all voted for one party like blacks do? 98+% voted for Obama and 93% for Gore. They should be glad that the majority of white people dont view this whole thing as us vs them. It's getting old real quick to be told we are racist cause we don't go all out trying to help for their cause and trying to lift "them" up. Make your own decisions, live with the rewards and or consequences of those decisions like I do.

Speaking of stupid. Routinely? That greatly exaggerates the issue. Yes there are some cops who have made bad decisions. They may even be racist. However, there are thousands of police / civilian interactions per day. They do not routinely shoot persons of any color. The majority do their jobs the best they can like the rest of us. They do deserve being blasted for the bad minority any more than protestors should all be called racist.

Protesting the anthem is total silliness and proves nothing except that you are an idiot. There are better ways to prove a point. People died for the freedoms these people enjoy. And they did it under that flag. Anyone not standing for the flag gets no respect from me.

This all is a small plot in a bigger plan. Trump is a pawn.
It's divide and conquer, and most people are going for it hook, line, and sinker. People are addicted to the "us versus them" struggle.
Removing God. Revising history books. Removing memorial statues. Knocking the upper class down and simultaneously empowering the folks who live off the govt. Bitcoin. Arguing politics with feelings instead of facts...right wing facts are shot down and not allowed on college campuses...etc etc
We are moving closer to socialism and a one world govt. Hopefully I'll be dead and gone by the time it arrives. Pray for your kids.

I watched Bill Maher last night and he discussed the issue with Bob Costas who had a unique take on the situation- the anthem means different things to different people and it has more than one meaning for everybody.
Most all people agree it represents a sort of battle flag honoring the history and present of our military- the song was written in the heat of one such historical battle. No one is protesting that. In fact, the right to expressions of free speech like the ones now causing an uproar is among the things they fought for.
The other meanings go more to what America stands for. The point of the protesters is that they will not join in on the blaring of those ideals when they are not being lived up to (cool- I just ended a sentence with two prepositions- take that grammarians).
Personally, I side with the rights of the protesters and squarely against Trump. That he can come down on the side of the NeoNazis (who have only evil axes to grind) right to protest and against these Black athletes who have legitimate concerns is just another sign of his lack of coherency and character.
Further I think playing the anthem for unimportant events like every game of any sport no matter how insignificant cheapens it. Save it for the Olympics where it makes sense or something like Clemson's military appreciation game or Veterans Day or the July 4th etc.- where it makes sense and has more meaning. At least save it for playoffs and championships. Let it be something special for the military academies. Why isn't anybody pissed off at pro golfers whose tour never plays it? It's either special or it isn't and right now it isn't.

like Trump..got it.
My issue is, I despised Obama and saw him as a tyrant. He had the lowest GDP growth of any president, used the executive order just as a king would and ignored laws he did not like. He was a globalist first and showed a disdain for the very country he presided over. Very tyranical, IMO. There, I spoke my peace.
But I would never want to see anybody protest him in such a manner as is going on now. Seems that many are are just being whiny babies..I'll take my ball and go home because I did not get my way a year after Trump was elected.
I did not vote for Trump, and I find him to be a bit sophmorish. After all, he is the President of everybody in the country, even those of us who did not vote for him, and he should recognize that. But I do giggle a little bit at the way he goads the oppositon into such a tizzy. I find it comical as the left does seem to have a bent for such emotion, that they don't realize that they are hurting themselves longterm with childish reactions to every little provocation.
Truthfully, what we have now is the best govt., little agreement and stalemates, making govt. intervention less and less. The business community loves ot too, though it would not be openly admitted..gridlock is good for America. And frankly, little agenda is being moved forward by Trump or the Dems right now.
And these protests look like a fad.

Bill Maher is as left as it gets. He uses slapstick comedy as a crutch when he actually invites a reasonable individual on to debate and he loses the debate he just switches and becomes a pompous comedian.
One thing he has right though is the threat of radical Islam. If you want a good laugh watch him debate with Ben Afflek on Youtube.

The president is a white supremacist who said disrespectful things about mostly-black athletes and their families. I think that was the main catalyst for what happened today.
