Do the NBA players play as rough under the basket as we see in college, all the pushing, shoving, grabbing the center in the paint?

Did we get this new rough play style from the NBA or did we get it from the refs. not calling those fouls. I watched and attended many ACC games and attended at least a dozen of the ACCC games when they were played in Greensboro, NC. I attended the NCAA final 4 and Final game there in the early 70's. The play back then was no where like it is now. David Thompson, Tom Burleson, Tree Rollins, I don't remember them playing like what we just saw in the elite eight.

There's less congestion in the paint and more emphasis on spreading the floor and creating space. There's still some post up play and some hard fouls, but it's not like the banging and mass of bodies down around the basket that you see in college alot of the time.

You can't breath on those cry babies without getting called for a foul. It's as soft a league as I've ever seen.
