And Lobelia, Indian tobacco, given for coughs but has same effects as nicotine on the body.
This Tonic could cure everyones DTs from cigarettes, alcohol, opioids, you name it. This stuff probably worked well actually.

in 1977 was a huge bottle collection that I had amassed over the years, from the time I was about ten years old, up until then. I used to scour old "garbage dumping grounds" in the edge of woods all around our country community. I had gotten quite a good collection of green Mason jars, cork bottles, etc.
But, the best bottles were ones I acquired from my oldest brother-in-laws family. They had a family pharmacy that had gone out of business right around 1900, and was basically boarded up almost like a time warp. I had probably a couple dozen different bottles with paper labels intact, many of them still with the original contents inside, from what I like to call the "Snake Oil Era". As with the one you showed, it would truly amaze you what got legally put in this stuff back then.
It was also humorous to read about what some of these "curatives" were to be used for. One, I remember, was primarily for "Billiousness", which is just a long name for gas. Another was called "Mother's Friend", and was to be used by nursing women to help with "tenderness in the upper chest area". (Edwardian times were too prim and proper to say breasts.)
I even had a SC Dispensary bottle, which was kind of the centerpiece of the collection. All gone now!
