Friend to daugherof (NO) says the truck runs fine until it shuts down. Disconnecting and reconnecting the battery fixes it for a time which varies, an hour to perhaps a day then rinse and repeat.

He's replaced all the sensors and the 'brain,.'

Sup wif dis truck, Obed®?

Yes, the guy said he traced, removed and cleaned the body to engine, battery to starter and other grounds. Seems obvious it's an electrical/sensor type issue to me.

The truck has 180K on the clock and he want $1200 for it and I'm probably going to buy it. I consider it my problem.

If automatic: might be a tranny position sensor or brake position sensor that *going* bad and the batterry trick may temporarily clear the problem.

Not on a S-10 but i've had this one happen with one of our tank wagons at work.

Also had one where the ignition switch was not securely tightened in the column and it would shift slightly when starting and stopping the engine. The spade connections on teh switch itself ahd partially loosened and would intermitently not work.

Are you talking about a shifter sensor on the transmission? Who puts a sensor on the transmission? What's wrong with this world?
