GF, or ghey lover, or BF, or husband:
I met my wife at the Highlander British Pub in Nofth Augusta. This is one of my favorite all-time bars as it stays open until 6am on Fri/Sat morning with live music. Also, had Bass and Guiness on tap in the mid to late 80s when no one had ever heard of craft beer. Walked home approx. 2 miles many a morning. Met my wife about 3am, took her to the Waffle House. The rest is history.

Having people over for my birthday. Wifeof had just come out of a long term relationship and a mutual friend basically forced her to come out to try to cheer her up. When she walked in i had my 8 week old black lab (the one and only Ayejoe) on top of the bar. She came straight over to him and essentially never left.
Now ask me about the first time she met my parents.

Wifeof (just GF at the time) and i have been dating a couple weeks. We are out to eat at the illustrious Outback in West Ashley (we were young and poor). Dad calls while we're at dinner to inform me he and mom are locked in the parking lot of the Folly Pier. They had parked there and went to the beach and go locked in when the pier closed at 7:00 or whatever. I say no problem, we're finishing up, we'll be there in 45 minutes or so. Inform wifeof that we need to leave after dinner to go rescue my parents from the pier. She's all like "We're going to pick them up?" I'm all "not exactly."
You see they had driven dad's corvette down there and was no chance in hell he was leaving it there overnight. So on the way to the beach we stop by my parents house, i let myself into the shed and get dad's bolt cutters. We go down to Folly, pull up beside the gate and i cut the lock. My mom holds the gate open while dad drives out. We all takeoff and meet up at the Island Grill and Bar for celebratory drinks and karaoke.
The End.

I used to do some work on houses out there when I was in high school, and once saw a cop with a ruler measuring how far off the pavement a car was parked so he could give it a parking ticket.

Yeah i know. This was early 2000s so not as much in the way of CCTV around at least. They were probably too busy writing tickets at the washout but we got lucky for sure.
And everyone knows you have to pile sand around your tires so your not "on the pavement".

together.
Went to school and church together. Also worked for her dad when I was in high school.
She was stuck up. She ended up marrying right out of high school. Very tumultuous marriage.
They divorced. I swooped in.
Crazy thing was I had a choice between dating her or her best friend (was secretly talking to both). Decided on her. Thank God. Her best friend went straight ho phase after her divorce. Settled down now but they are no longer friends.

Butt no, we were in class together. 7th grade is when all the elementary schools in the area used to come together for Junior High. I think it was 3 Elementary Schools joining, so there was 3 times the kids, most of which you didn't know. There was a cute girl in my science class but we didn't start dating for another couple years, when we could actually date.
*She wasn't really cute, but neither was I. My wife is hotter now than ever before, which is weird because I seem to have peaked. Jokes on her, I guess.

Wrigley Mansion in PHX.

Was visiting frans prior to moving out there, just got off the golf course and was all sweaty and in golf clothes and highly underdressed for that joint. But still taller and way better looking than the rest of the crowd, so she picked me out of the lineup.
Wrigley (chewing gum) family sold it to Hormel, so Geordie Hormel was a regular there, bar is named after him. Nice dude who also happened to be worth ~$100M by virtue of being born. House is covered in old photos, especially from the '60s-'90s. Sammy Davis Jr. was Geordie's best man. Chevy Chase was seen running around the property with a gallon size Ziploc of cocaine.

Was it the golf course clubhouse? Did your friends you were visiting own the place? Did it belong to your wife's family, and you were written out of the will for moving her across the country to Charleston?

Troo story
Oct 26, 2021, 12:54 PM
|
|
Wife was a friend of a friend of my roomate. Roommate had a friend who knew this girl from West Cola. He introduced us one time when she came to Clemson. She's a freshman and I'm a 2nd year sophomore. Roommates, friend of roomate and his GF, and this girl all decide to go to Charlie T's at the Seneca marina for karaoke night, plus they're open past 2am to boot. So we go, with this freshman girl being our DD. ALSO on the trip with us was another friend of my roomate and his live-in bisexual girlfriend he met online who left her husband and kid in NM and drove to Clemson to live with him. So there's like 7 of us. We drink beer all night, and get ripped. The crowd is a mix of locals and students, very eclectic mix. The beer flowed. We all got lit except for the freshman hawt DD.
ANYWAY, we were at a picnic table, and on one side was me, the hawt DD in the middle, and the girlfriend of roommate's friend, the bisexual freak from NM, on the far right. As the night wore on I noticed the hawt freshman DD was scooting closer and closer to me, she was practically hanging all over me. I knew this would be a good night. By the time we left she was practically in my lap and she talked to me the entire time, like close-talking. She drove us back to our apartment and we hooked up in the kitchen, and the rest is history.
Well, almost. Next day she comes by and says she feels embarrassed and wanted to tell me something. I'm like don't worry, no offense taken at your aggressiveness. Well, she then told me that the bisexual woman to her right at the table had been rubbing on her leg all night and whispered she wanted to take her home, etc. So naturally she recoiled, scooting to her left, and that's why she was practically in my lap and facing me and talking to me all night, because of the lesbian hitting on her to her right. She liked me and all, but didn't want me to have the wrong idea.
When we told this story of how we met to the pastor before the wedding, well, he laughed so hard he was rolling, literally.

I was stoned and playing ping pong. She was studying for her next course. Our first date was a Halloween party. I was a scarecrow and she came as a synonym. Her "jugs" were real and spectacular.
Yes, I still have a pig. But, I'm not permitted to share it. I think it's mainly because of the stuffed toy rabbits in her hare.

The first time we met was right here

Her mom was working in real estate when I bought my house. I didn't know it, but I opened the door for her mom when I had to go sign papers for buying my first house.
On closing day, my realtor gave me a picture of a girl with red curly hair and appeared under age. Her phone number was on the back.

It took me three times before I remembered my wife.
Oct 26, 2021, 2:19 PM
|
|
The first time our paths crossed we were at a friend's house for a bonfire. I don't remember her, but she was there and remembered me.
The second time we met she was taking tickets at an MUSC function I attended w/ my roommate who was in dental school at the time (btw, those dental kids can gtf down...so just know your dentist is probably a former or active fiend). I seem to recall saying to my buddy the ticket girl was cute, but...that was about it.
The third time was St. Patty's Day. I had to choices -- head with my buddy to North Charleston for the festivities up there, or head with my other friends to Sullivan's. Not sure what pushed me to taken Option B, but best decision of my life. Lady Ot was down there, we were both kind of drunk, and I was firing on all cylinders game wise. I still remember coyly pulling down her sun glasses with the tip of my finger and boys, that was it. I was done.
We were supposed to all get up later in the day, but day-drinking does as day-drinking does, and I was out of action. I told my lady friend who was our mutual friend that I was going to ask her out, and she straight up told me, "She'll probably say no. I wouldn't do it. Just hang out together more." I ignored, asked, and received a positive yes.
Our first date was at Fuel, because it was literally across the church parking lot and I figured proximity is a major factor in getting her to come back for a night cap. My strategy was going to be show up slightly late and demonstrate my alphaness, but given Fuel was 30 seconds away, it didn't quite work and I got there just as she was pulling up. Later she said if I was late she would have bailed, so again, fate was working in my favor. A little of this a little of that later I asked if she wanted to go back and watch the Goonies (a movie everybody knows and enjoys but you don't exactly have to pay attention to).
Now, mind you...this is a beautiful, smart, A-type future pharmacist, who walks into this basic stranger's apartment with wires hanging down from the ceiling (our decision to hang the surround sound cables with duct tape on the ceiling was not a winner), reeks of skunk (*cough*), and I have this plant growing through my window from the outside (which I called My Nature). She ended up leaving at midnight. Actually, that's what she told our mutual friend. It was closer to 3AM.
We started dating immediately, but probably about a month or so in she tells me that she isn't sure if she wants a BF right now because after she graduated pharmacy school she wanted to do a residency out of state, and didn't want anybody messing with those plans. At the time I was not aware she was breaking up with me, but I told her she needed to figure out what she wanted but I was in if she was. About a week later she came around to her senses.
Celebrated five years of marriage this year. We have an amazing little boy. Couldn't ask for a better second chance at love.

We stayed in touch via email for a month or so after I bounced from DC to Atlanta, but I realized it was pretty unhealthy and dropped coms. Occasionally I'll google search her because she was a pretty brilliant girl in her own right and interested to see what she made of herself free of marital appendages. But that's about all I know. In a #### kind of way it's weird how you can be married to someone and today they are a stranger by all objective standards; like someone you knew in HS and lost touch with.
There is one amusing side note. The professor dude she started seeing like...immediately after moving out ended up becoming an FTC commissioner and later an economic advisor to the Trump transition team.
So that's my on-brand D.C. story.

We were in our early 20s, never should have been married in the first place. Given that we had no kids, house, or any assets worth fighting over, it was more like a complicated legal breakup than a divorce. There isn't any real resentment, jealousy, or nostalgic what-ifs that make clean-breaks necessary for mental (or financial) health.

We met on 4-20-2012
Oct 26, 2021, 2:33 PM
|
|
My friend was going on a first date with the girl he ended up marrying, and asked if I wanted to third wheel. Turns out, the girl brought a friend too. The four of us went to an NC State baseball game and then to the bar across the street afterwards. I had just been dumped by a girl that I was cheating on, and I was very upset she dumped me when she found out. I started crying at the bar to Red and she kept giving me all these tips and tricks to try and get her back. Long story short, we got married, own a home, and have a sport f ucking trophy together.

Met her my freshman year at Clemson

Was going to band camp the week before school started at like 7:45 AM with my roommate that was going to football practice as he worked on the video staff. Get into the elevator at Byrnes and there's this pretty girl in there. Surprised to see another person awake at that time, my buddy asks her if she wants a ride. Of course she does and she heads off with us. She was in the band too, in the flag line, and we became friends. Didn't start dating until a year and a half later. Been married for about 17.5 years now.

last year with my old GF from Clemson. Zero communication in over 40 years, I didn't know if she was dead or alive. I despise all social media but actually joined FB in an attempt to find her. And I did.
I have to think about whether or not I want to share anything more. But it's very cool.

Needed a date to junior prom.
Was helping my best friend move some furniture at his aunt's house. Saw his round-butted freshman cousin peeping me from afar. Me thinks she might enjoy touching my peepee. Got her AIM screenname, did a little Don Juan De La Nooge type chatting. Found out she was dating one of my other friends from church. Got her to dump him and escort me to prom.
Showed up to her folks house to pick her up for prom. When she opened the door, I didn't tell her how good she looked, I pointed out that she had some deodorant smudged on her armpit. Made out with her at prom (a lot). Started dating. She touched my peepee (a lot). We got married, now she recoils at the thought of touching my peepee.
20+ years and going strong.

Speech Class my second senior year at CU
Oct 27, 2021, 8:18 AM
|
|
I rarely showed up for the day to day class. I'd just show up for the required speeches, give a major mic drop, and leave. Anyway, for one speech I used the phrase "Too many chiefs and not enough Indians" (which probably would have me in front of the CU cultural sensitivity board in 2021) and she thought it was funny, which led to us talking the next time I saw her at TD's.
The cherry on top is she went to class every day and I got an A to her B....it's occasionally dunk-worthy still 20+ years later.

My now husband was a friend of a friend and had recently moved to Gville, so friend wanted to introduce him to me and some friends since I had a pretty large circle of 20-something year old females. I'd been involved with the wrong guy (I think we all can take a wild guess here at that one).
I thought my future husband was too nice for me (I had a type, and it wasn't the kind that my parents approved of) so I set him up with one of my straight laced, boring CPA friends.
As luck would have it, I kept running into him all over the place. And we developed a friendship.
Finally ran into him at a Clemson game and we were both completely unattached and he sent me an email a week later asking me out and the rest is history. Turns out he's a complete smart ### and also had been kind of a bad ### in his prior career, so just enough "bad boy."
