Know what's really expensive? Reception venues

Holy "why'd I get remarried" Batman!
Long story short, we got married in December, in a small private ceremony with just the kids and officiant. Easy peasey.
Now due to family and friend pressures, and asking when they get to come to a reception, we've decided that we should do it, bc we have aging family and they'd like to see us. Plus, she wants to put her dress on again.
Looking at venues for this ~100 person max reception, the average cost is around $5000 for a couple of hours. Yeah it includes tables and chairs and stuff, but still.
Anyone know of a nice place in the Greenville area that won't put us into debt? This isn't meant to be a big shindig, just a nice small party.
And yes, if it were left up to me, there wouldn't be one, but i'm not dying on that hill.

lutz.
I swear though, the cicada killers were horrible over there. One summer I swatted over 200 of them with a tennis racket. Dug my yard to hayell. This 10 year old neighbor caught a shitton of them and put them in one of those glass lizard cages. Twas gnarly.

Went to a wedding on a farm in upstate NY three weeks ago. The venue alone was $65,800. Plus catering, open bars, DJ, band, photo and video, an artist to do a painting of the happy couple during the reception, etc. Complete lunacy.

If they’d tax the schyatt out of people with that kind of money to waste we wouldn’t have potholes and every bathroom would have free PooPurri dispensers

It is now a "family reunion". Schedule on a Friday, avoid Saturday if possible.

we went to a wedding there, they have catering and facilities - I really have no idea the cost but I think this couple was footing their own bill and prob not too expensive.

So for the mock wedding/reception the guy who owns the 8 bedroom lake house next to us let us have it for 4 days free of charge and we had everyone split between the 2 houses for a mini vacation. But w decorations, chairs, tables, catering, photographer, it still cost us about 5 grand.
