I Will Say It Again

The ACC is going to settle the lawsuit with FSU and it will favor FSU. The ACC does not want to defend Swofford's actions in a court where depositions under oath will be taken of Swofford, his son, ESPN officials, and who knows who else. A Florida judge and court is going to be friendly to FSU and that is where the FSU lawsuit against the ACC will be heard.

I say FSU will get out of the ACC at a max payment of $200,000,000. Maybe a whole lot less if it goes to trial and collusion by Swofford with ESPN and any other entity is shown and the ACC knows this.

They have been caught with their hand in the cookie jar.

The ACC cannot afford to have a can of worms opened in which FSU may end up showing fraud and collusion by Swofford and his son and ESPN. That would ruin the ACC's reputation and lead to all kinds of lawsuits from other schools. It could even lead to criminal prosecution by Fl. AG. The ACC is not going to roll the dice on that. This lawsuit will be settled because FSU is going for the throat. They have nothing to lose.

This is going to end just like the case of The ACC v. The University of Maryland

The two sides will eventually reach a negotiate settlement.

Sometimes good things fall apart so better things can fall together.

Regardless, FSU is leaving.....

and the ACC knows this. Say FSU stays the entire 11 years, then the ACC gets no settlement. Yes, they benefit for potential cashflow over that time, but it won't equal the PV they can get in a lump sum. The toxicity will also get to the point its better to rip off the bandaid....

Personally, I think FSU can get out for less than $200M. At some point, and this may have already happened at a very internal level, the ACC will start to pivot figuring out how to survive as a lesser conference with schools who don't want to play in the big leagues.

FSU and Clemson ARE THE BRANDS and, at present, no other schools come even remotely close.
