(14)Clemson - 21
Kentucky - 3

A week after dethroning the National Champions Georgia at home, Kentucky stymied the Clemson offense for the first half in 1981 and led 3-0 at halftime.

The only score coming off a Kentucky 40 Yard FG.

But the game quickly turned in Clemson's favor, and the Tigers stormed back for 21 second-half points behind touchdowns by Kevin Mack, Homer Jordan, and Chuck McSwain.

Clemson held Kentucky to 97 second-half yards. The Tigers ran their record to 4- 0 with the win and moved into the top 10 in the polls for the first time since 1959 after the victory.

After the game, Danny Ford commended his players for their poise, and, from here on out, Clemson would start to demolish teams en route to the National Title.

great footage. I met Kevin Mack once not long after he retired from NFL. Tackling him couldn't have been any fun

Clemson had a small but noisy crowd there. I remembered Kentucky fans coming up to us saying how impressed there were with the Clemson spirt.

To me, this has always kind of been the forgotten game, alomg with Tulane of that magical season. On the road, after the huge win against Georgia, trailing at half.... that team just refused to lose or doubt one another!
