I support Clemson Tigers, not a HC, nor a player...

... because once you start doing that, you're not a fan of the Tigers, you're a fan of a fallible person who can make really bad decisions. If you believe in Jesus, then the Bible says put your trust in the Lord, not in flesh and blood.
As a football fan, I've seen a lot of other fans get so caught up in believing in 'people' or a specific 'person' to the point of idolizing them. But no HC wins a game, and no single player wins or loses a game. It's everyone pulling together or falling apart that dictates the long term success of the program. Clemson 2021 is on a precipice because the preceding success is now coming home to roost as failure. Failure the result of inbred-hiring, sloppy preparation for evolving the playbook, and unrealistic estimations of certain players ability.
Today we saw the 7th game of the season, and the 3rd loss of this season because the HC didn't make hard choices earlier in the season and really prior to the season. They've recruited talent, trained that talent year upon year, and those boys played hard. But their coaches failed them when it counted. We saw it last week when Skalski had to ball out an AC because there were only 10 men on the field. He knew something was wrong, the AC didnt? or the AC didn't care enough to be focused on the job at hand. Today we saw some horrible play calling, passes behind the line that had no protection, passes down the field that went astray, passes that got dropped. All symptomatic of bad coaching in execution before the game.
Dabo let the energy of the offense slip away early this season, and the team game time has been running on the defense's battery. And that defense came in early and did well, but the offense kept draining their energy away. It's no wonder that the 2nd halves of many games have been pitiful compared to previous years success. The energy is depleted and they can't build up enough to finish a game.
I love my Tigers... but they are in a bad place this year, because hard choices haven't been made. And now they've got 5 games left, 4 of which are going to be just as much tests as this Pitt game. It will be up to the HC, ACs, and Players to decide their fate this season. The AD needs to step in and have words across the board with the whole staff and team, and do his job too. It's time all the money being spent for this program got earned honestly.
As a fan I will support the 'Clemson Tigers' but I'm not supporting anyone else who chooses not to face the hard decisions head on to make this team better.
If you're part of the 'trust in a man' crowd, I feel for ya... but I'll only pity you so much.
