Right now, he is an assistant coach at Appalachian State. ASU is doing VERY well. Then I tracked Tanners career since he graduated. Been bouncing around different schools, every where he’s been the team does well … he has been working his way up …

Ok I will say it ! Tanner Smith to Clemson as Head Coach ! He’s young, he has the passion, he’s a local product he could be The Dabo of Basketball. Dabo was never HC before he was made HC. The rest is happy history. The future is now.

If Brownell is let go I hope we spend some dough and hire a proven coach/recruiter that has won several rounds in the NCAA tournament on a regular basis.

If we are not prepared to win then keep who we have.

And besides, what HC as you describe is going to want come here ? It’s going to be a winning coach at a “small” school or a current assistant. Might as well give Tanner a shot. Seems like a level headed young guy and will represent Clemson well.

I mean I feel like Job security is something very high on a lot of coaches minds with the way college athletics are now… and we have proven over a 14 year span that it would take alot , and I mean alot of down years below mediocrity to be fired. I mean name another coach that has done what BB has in 14 years at the same school that still has a job. In a power 5/4 league. I think we could get a bigger name than most give us credit for with the facilities and all now.

I love Tanner and would love to see him at Clemson. I think this job requires a bit more experience and not a first time HC.

Then we should hire Tanner's boss. He is a Clemson grad and on his 2nd successful HC gig. Has turned both PC and App State around. Also served a 4 yr. stint as Mike Young's Associate HC at Wofford.

Tanner is kind of meh plus app state sucks in basketball unless donething has changed this year.
Oglesby name does add a little spice.
