For several years I was attacked on here for my BB takes..

Please someone not named judge ( who is complete buffoon ).... prove me wrong.
BB has been nothing but a failure here at Clemson yet he seems to get a pass among the Clemson faithful. It's a joke.
What more freaking evidence does one need?

I would grade him C-, slightly below average.

So, he isn't a failure.
However, he has not proven he cannot go far in either the ACC Tournament or NCAA Tournament. His only achievements that I can recollect is finally winning in Chapel Hill, getting to the NIT Championship Game, and winning that 'World Games' (or something).

I’d consider Sweet 16 kind of far. I’d grade a C+ …because Clemson and all.

My career has been in HR, and one of my CEOs described this situation well when talking about a colleague: “he isn’t good enough to keep, but not bad enough to fire.”

Go back through the history of basketball at Clemson and support your claim that we are worse now than we have been forever.

VB is this really our measuring stick? Can’t speak for anyone else but I expect more regardless of our basketball program historically. In looking at the last 12 years I still say we still deserve better. He is who he is and that is average. I hate it but that’s just the reality right now.

I love not being worse than we used to be. That is so exciting.

I tried a similar thing when I interviewed for colleges. I said well I’m no worse than the other applicants. Surprisingly it didn’t work for me. Thankfully I learned and stopped saying what we all knew. And by the way I’m no worse of a poster than you. Woohoo!

Clemson basketball has been mediocre, overall, at best,

during the 12 years Brownell has been head coach. He has definitely been hamstrung somewhat by lack of financial support and basketball tradition, but at the end of the day he is the face of the program that has been mediocre on his watch; there's no side-stepping that. Those are the facts. Is there reason to believe he can turn it around with better support, or is it more likely that another coach with a new vision can breathe new life into the program and take it to the next level?
No guarantees either way.

for you to put up with Tnet abuse. Why do you endure? I am no one to talk, been married for several years.
"BB has been nothing but a failure" is a reach. Maybe saying things like that attract abuse your way?
BB was seem by the AD at the time as our best option. He has not taken us to the Natty, but which coach would have? He has run a program (discounting the record) no one can complain as to.
I don't believe he will produce more wins than in the past seasons, to think that is insanity.

Well, I've become convinced that it is almost certainly time to find someone who can help Clemson win more games, more consistently. And certainly if next years results are not better.
But there are significant positives for Brownell, nonetheless.
Here's one: first and only Clemson coach to ever win a game at Chapel Hill, breaking an 0-59 streak.
In the last 6 years, his teams have won several post-season games, including making an NCAA Sweet 16 appearance in 2018.
2017 ACC tournament, #12 seed, beat #13 NCSU, then lost to #5 Duke (Duke won tournament). 2018 ACC tournament, #4 seed (double-bye), beat #12 BC, then lost to #1 UVS (UVA won tournament) 2019 ACC tournament, #9 seed lost to #8 seed NCSU 59-58 2020 ACC tournament, #8 seed beat #9 Miami (Brownell became first Clemson coach to end the season with a win, as remaining ACC and NCAA & NIT games were canceled due to COVID) 2021 ACC tournament, #5 seed, lost to #13 Miami 2022 ACC tournament, #10 seed, beat #13 NCSU, then lost to #7 Va Tech (Va Tech won tournament)
2017 NIT #2 seed, first round loss to #7 seed Oakland 2018 NCAA #5 seed made Sweet 16 (beat #12 New Mexico State and #4 Auburn, lost to #1 Kansas [KSU final four]) 2019 NIT #2 seed, won 1st round vs #7 Wright State, lost to #6 Witchita State 2020 no post season for anyone (COVID) 2021 NCAA #7 seed, lost to #10 seed Rutgers 2022 did not qualify
Brownell and Clemson represented the US in the 2019 World University games, went 6-0 and won the gold medal.
I cannot remember any disciplinary problems of any significance on Brownell teams. As far as I know, there's not been any allegations of NCAA violations on Brownell teams.
In years past, Clemson got run out of the gym on a regular basis, with 20 or even 30 point losses. I feel the poor record Brownell has in close games overlooks the fact that there are now more close games (but I have not done any analysis to that effect, it just seems that way). Yeah, we have some big losses, but they're not by 30 points anymore and I feel like the team is playing hard every minute of every game rather than giving up like they obviously did in the past.

Big time player would you go to a school as Clemson is with all the negative followers of the program like I hear on this web site EVERY #### DAY?. You “know it all” so called fans are much worse for the program than coach BB will ever be.

going to play a college sport and attend college, based on a few posts of a free anonymous sports forum... then they're really gonna struggle with life in the real world. Just saying. And any other school they might choose has similar forums.

Its nothing to do with BB. Put anybody you want in that spot and he’s gonna be average. Its the program and where hoops rank on the food chain of Clemson. It is what it is.

to an extended level no one believed possible.
For those of you who believe the past 12-13 years and $20-30 million expended are worth repeating, OK. I am not with you.
