If a player opts out of a Bowl game

He should have to sit a year before he can transfer. That would put a stop to this crap. If the player is on an athletic scholly, it means he has committed to play for the team for that season, and that means ALL games.

I think they mostly opt due to NFL aspirations. However, no way anyone from FSU, aside from Coleman and Verse, play longer than a couple of years. Guys are quitters. Took their ball and went home.

Imagine how many men out there would give their left nut to line up one more time, on any level.

I have a Bear Bryant book that is about 50 years old. One of the old Bear quotes was. "You can spot the players that are getting paid extra because they will quit on you."

College football's current situation shows just how correct he was.

Courts won't allow a restriction at this point.

players having to declare for the portal asap. "Bowl games be darned." Not as simple as telling them they have to stick around or sit.

Need to fine then like a breach of contract and give a portion of the money to the player who replaced them.

Not a bad idea

However, you're going to have to have a collective bargaining agreement to enforce it and to separate from college athletics as a professional league.

In a perfect world, the transfer portal would only open AFTER the season similar to free agency. However, you're never going to get that with CFB being connected to the academic calendars so that's why you'd need to effectively end school as a requirement and declare them pros to have a separate calendar.

Yep, it's a mess. Hope smarter folks in power have some plans to fix this while it's still considered an amateur product on technicality.

The Supreme Court of the United States says that is against the laws of the United States of America.

They quoted an Anti-monopoly law from the 1800s.

Pay them 25 percent of their NIL money during the season and the remaining 75 percent AFTER the bowl game. That would do it.
