If I am NC State, I would not want Chad

Nov 29, 2012, 8:55 AM

yet. He only has three years at the college level. Being the OC is a long way from being the Head Coach. I would want someone who had more experience with the college environment. For OC, I'd hire him in a minute, but not for HC.

Listening to 730 AM in Charlotte yesterday, Dave Glenn

basically said that Debbie Yow doesn't like to hire coaches that don't have Head Coaching experience, feeling that there is a learning curve. She tends to believe that a coach should have prior experience at a smaller conference level.
That said, he pointed out that CM has head coaching experience at the Texas 5A High School Level, which is on par with some smaller college teams.

Too bad that she was not our AD back in 08!

The La Tech guy would be the safe hire. Chad Morris

Nov 29, 2012, 9:04 AM

could be a great hire, but is inexperienced.

I think both are good candidates.

Dabo had a lot of experience?***

He was in college ball for a long time. But that was the

reason people were critical of the Dabo hire. No proven coordinator or HC experience... Which is one reason he needs to hire a great coordinator.

Luckily for Dabo and Clemson

Debbie Yow was not involved in Clemson's hiring process. She's the crazy beech that destroyed Maryland's athletics.

Haven't you heard, Maryland's athletics are great

Nov 29, 2012, 9:10 AM

The Big 10 wanted them because of their athletics..... or maybe it was for TV money..... It was definitely one of those two things though.... hmmm

Dabo had major college coaching experience.

Nov 29, 2012, 9:46 AM [ in reply to Dabo had a lot of experience?*** ]

Even if it was not at the HC or coordinator level. I'm saying that Chad has very little college experience at all. He has a good offensive scheme right now. That's all he has. It takes time to learn how to manage a major college program. It is the second hardest job in the world. And if I am hiring a head coach, I want someone who has spent some time in that environment. And no, I don't buy the Texas HS = College argument. The pressure may be as intense, but the bureaucracy is different. How many HS coaches have to navigate dorm accomodations, nutrition programs, and a college level compliance program, not to mention a national level recruiting program? It's just different.

It says a heck of a lot that Gene Stallings came to Clemson to personally support and encourage Dabo 's hire as HC...

He was his college coach, what did you expect him to say?

If your choices were to lose Dabor or Chad to NCSU

Nov 29, 2012, 9:48 AM

who would you keep?

how do you people function in the real world.

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

If I am NC State, I would hire Rick Stocksdill

Nov 29, 2012, 9:50 AM

The guy is a great recruiter and knows the area and has tons of experiance in college football. MTSU may not be a powerhouse, but they have played much better under him.
