It worth it to put him on kickoff coverage instead of not red shirting him? Especially with the new kickoff rules.

They will slowly move him into the rotation....they're not just going to throw him to the wolves in the first game against Auburn. He's still learning, he fell behind alot rehabbing his knee and don't wanna rush it right away. I'm sure he'll get some PT in the next couple games to get back in the groove.

Don't know where you come off as the expert, but no, IMO he won't play this year at linebacker at all. He's not ready. I've seen him in drills, and he's just not. Some of you guys are putting the wagon in front of the horses here. Relax. He'll prob redshirt if I had to guess. This coming from a MLB with 2 torn ACL's. For what it's worth.

Venables did say that in an interview before the season. I didn't claim to be an expert, I go by what i heard and read. What we think doesn't really matter anyways. I forgot to say the almighty...IMO!! since that takes the expert claim away. Our coaches wouldn't let a player have that kinda power over them to where they give in and feel they need to let him play cause he would be upset. They didn't RS him because they felt as the season goes along he will be able step into the rotation at some point and get on the field. They already gave Justin Parker a RS as well. I don't mind the decision to not RS him this year.

Sorry, I didn't mean to come off as an ###. Just meant that the way you put your reply it seemed like what you said is the absolute truth. Truth is, no one knows. It's pure speculation. I'm speculating, you're speculating, etc. It wouldn't make any sense to play him IMO. Yes, he'll probably play next year, and probably start. IMO, some of you assume way too much. He'll definitely leave early for the NFL? HAHAHAHAHA. What makes anybody think that? Since he's done SOOO much already? Look, the dude tore a 2nd ACL and he's recovering. Some of you don't get that. I've torn 2, same way, same position, same time frame, same everything pretty much. I'll admit I'm not Tony, but you guys are putting a lot of pressure on him when you need to relax. Forget he's on the sideline. Let him surprise you one day. This year on ST and at practice will get him back to normal, or as close as possible. Again, not meant the way it was taken, but everything's speculation. No one knows.

This is not about the depth this season. He is behind two seniors and will be the #1 guy next year at his position. He doesn't need to waste another year on the scout team. Also the coaches know steward is talented and there is no guarantee he will stick around after next season, much less 3 years.

He is a physical freak. Every time he has been capable of playing he has impressed everyone who watches him. Jamie Harper didn't exactly have the best stats or impress the fans but he was the prototypical NFL build and ended up being drafted higher than anyone else thought.

He is going to start next year, he needs to get some pt this year, can't sit two years in a row and then play. Coaches making a good decision, he will play a lot the next two weeks as well.

Venables was interviewed just before the season began. He said Steward hasn't been able to do the weight training required for him to be physical enough. He then pointed to the fact that he is behind two seniors who know the defense better.
The guessing begins when we are talking about redshirting. My guess is they want him playing at least some in order to be ready for when those seniors are gone next year.
