More CU alums, could this backfire? I mean I get they are over their heads and the move to hire them was questionable at best, but straight up fire them?

So what do you do if you’re Dabo? Fire a beloved CJ Spiller? Thomas Austin? Etc?

Or does he give them an ultimatum? Take this spot in the athletic department or step down?

Or try to get them on at another school? (NOBODY would pay them what CU has, even if they WOULD take them).

It truly goes to show how costly even one mis-hire can be, when you get it tied up with alums and friends it gets really messy.

It's tough but it should not be a cakewalk when you make 12m a year. No one likes to fire anyone but it comes along with the pay grade.

Here is my take on ALL former players
I love that yall played and gave your all for the team during your time!
I am sure it prepared you for life out in the big world.

I have no “allegiance” to former players as coaches or NFL players
Only when you were in uniform!
You had a great opportunity for college so now go live life!
Reed is not a Clemson alum but look at the great job he has done!
Its about performance so if Spiller gets fired or Grisham or Austin so what let them go find their way in the world
They had their chance and blew it
I have no qualms about Dabo cutting a Clemson Man versus anyone else
Just get someone to do the #### job!

Agreed. I don’t know why we wouldn’t bring a stud OL coach in and let guys like Austin learn under them or go somewhere else. Instead we make him the guy and pay the price, and because of Dabo’s hubris we now have to fire another alum.

Part of leadership is putting people in a position where they can be successful.
