Feb 8, 2017, 3:58 PM

ideally i would have picked something a little more specific.

i am in sales (a straight shooter with upper management written all over me) so it is fairly useful.

and specialized in diesel maintenance.

I would have come back with GI bill and gotten an associates in business and marketing.

Then I would work toward owning a marina while working on boats and fishing on the side.

I would now own a string of marinas up and down the coast from CHS to the virgin Islands.

Ok, maybe not a string, but at least one in US and one in the Caribbean.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I like that plan. Yeah you get what I was saying.

Feb 8, 2017, 5:11 PM

Something that would have created a solid life, but you enjoy it too. Balance!

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

wait, you DON'T own a marina in the Caribbean?

Always have wanted to start in a company and work my way up the ladder.

Would love to take over a small business for a month and see if I could increase profits. Would never do it though. Wouldn't want to screw up some guy's life.

Guess that's why some fantasies should just stay fantasies. Like butt #######.

Your major shouldn't pigeonhole you into a career

Feb 9, 2017, 11:07 AM

It happens a lot, and in some careers the major is hugely important. For many it is not. I went liberal arts. Majored in history and political science. Had no inclination to go into politics or be a history teacher. Thought about law school but decided to make my own path, helping attorneys without all the baggage, so to speak.

I'd pick the same majors if I had it to do all over again.

If I HAD to pick a different one, I'd pick computer science.

2024 orange level memberbadge-donor-15yr.jpgringofhonor-tiggity-110.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

So..

Feb 9, 2017, 11:09 AM

.

Seriously though. You have the same major as I do. What is this new frontier?

Computer science would have been the best degreefor me too..

Feb 9, 2017, 11:17 AM [ in reply to Your major shouldn't pigeonhole you into a career ]

had I not been so terrible in mathematics. When I finished my math and language requirements I knew I essentially graduated college.
