I’ll be curious to see how many “dead weight” programs…

Aug 5, 2023, 2:43 PM

Will be allowed to remain in these two giant mega conferences? If they are only drags on their respective leagues, why would the Wagon pullers have sway in pushing them out and replacing w/ better competition that they had no room for?

I was astounded to learn that Clemson is the highest viewed brand in the ACC at 4.1 million average (FSU was only at 4 million).

The two programs would also rank tops in the B1G as well (w/ maybe OSU matching their numbers)! Clemson is grotesquely being undervalued right now on many fronts..geographically, academically, demographically, culturally, and athletically.

I think the networks who now own the B1G, see this and are probably in full comms with the SEC like the Allie’s were after WW I and II while the victors were taking their spoils.

Still interested in how they purge their dead weight legally…

Agree. There has to be some purging at some point. Too many chads hanging around in the Big and $EC

You do it by implementing policies that all of the teams have to meet to remain in the conference. Policies the teams you want can meet and the "hangers on" can't meet. If you can't meet the new policies, you are no longer a member. All kinds of new criteria can be used to thin the herd and avoid losing any lawsuits.

The dead weight reduction plan gets implemented when the tv networks broker the creation of a college football conference separate from NCAA oversight. The new entity backed by private equity players will invite the schools they favor. The P2 conference phase will serve as a vetting for accurate valuations.
