Every properly performed scientific study done before 2020 demonstrated that any mask other than fitted surgical masks were ineffective and sometimes harmful in preventing spread of viruses.
Social distancing had some small benefits.
Frequent hand washing has significant benefit.
Stopping risky behaviors has significant benefit.
But wearing that tiny little scrap of unfitted oxygen-impairment on your face is a placebo for others, that's all.
God bless the families of the friends you lost, but the fact that you are here and they are not does not make you the right one.

There have been way too many mask posts on here. But your reply is by far the best. Succinct and accurate. TU

You might want to review this Jan 26, 2021 article if you don't want to read the abstracts and conclusions of any of the other dozens of studies Google Scholar brought up supporting the uses of masks. (My search was "Efficacy of masks vs Covid 19)
https://www.pnas.org/content/118/4/e2014564118An evidence review of face masks against COVID-19 The science around the use of masks by the public to impede COVID-19 transmission is advancing rapidly. In this narrative review, we develop an analytical framework to examine mask usage, synthesizing the relevant literature to inform multiple areas: population impact, transmission characteristics, source control, wearer protection, sociological considerations, and implementation considerations. A primary route of transmission of COVID-19 is via respiratory particles, and it is known to be transmissible from presymptomatic, paucisymptomatic, and asymptomatic individuals. Reducing disease spread requires two things: limiting contacts of infected individuals via physical distancing and other measures and reducing the transmission probability per contact. The preponderance of evidence indicates that mask wearing reduces transmissibility per contact by reducing transmission of infected respiratory particles in both laboratory and clinical contexts. Public mask wearing is most effective at reducing spread of the virus when compliance is high. Given the current shortages of medical masks, we recommend the adoption of public cloth mask wearing, as an effective form of source control, in conjunction with existing hygiene, distancing, and contact tracing strategies. Because many respiratory particles become smaller due to evaporation, we recommend increasing focus on a previously overlooked aspect of mask usage: mask wearing by infectious people (“source control”) with benefits at the population level, rather than only mask wearing by susceptible people, such as health care workers, with focus on individual outcomes. We recommend that public officials and governments strongly encourage the use of widespread face masks in public, including the use of appropriate regulation. Ugh scientific method and an analysis. Boring.
My best friend's, mother's, cousin's, step sister's, uncle said he over heard someone say it doesn't work. So i believe them

If any of you actually pay attention, masks are primarily used to prevent you spreading viruses and other pathogens into the environment.
A secondary use is to stop you breathing in pathogens from others. So yes, masks are there to stop you from potentially getting others ill and spreading diseases.
Socially distancing obviously is also key because even if you are in masks, sitting on someone's lap, a mask can only do so much.
I don't know why this is such a hard or controversial thing to understand. But clearly you all have made your mind up they don't work. And even if they have minimal effect, its such a small sacrifice to make to potentially aid someone else. But i forget all you people are running daily marathons and need your precious oxygen.

Agreed, and it's also about wearing masks PROPERLY.

That means not wearing it with your nose exposed, making sure the chin stays covered, and making sure it's tight around the face.
And of course, not wearing a mask consistently is also a problem.
Many people either don't wear their mask properly, or don't wear their mask consistently. Yet they want to say that masks don't work.
Honestly, cloth masks don't work nearly as well as a surgical mask or an N95, but they are better than nothing.

One thing I learned about people is they are especially moronic when someone tells them they have to do something or can’t do something. And when it’s for the greater good, look out- their stupidity and denial of facts know no bounds.

I’m sorry about your friends. Your statement implies that people who get covid are those who don’t wear a mask and/or don’t believe they protect them. Is that what you’re going for?

Sorry to hear about the loss of your two friends. However, implying that masks would have saved them is a gross over assumption.

Yes because wearing a mask outside not even close to another human being is going to prevent Covid! What an idiot!
Cove isn’t falling from the air like radioactive Ash!
I saw an article in the Guardian of an American celebrity and his family in England and those people have been brainwashed even worse than Americans. Him and his wife and kids were out walking around on a pretty sunny day without another human in sight other than a paparazzi that took the picture with a telephoto lens but in the comments section people are yelling and screaming stay inside and wear a mask. People are sheep! You don’t need a mask outside with your family and no one else even remotely nearby that is just sheer stupidity!
I wear a mask when I’m around other people indoors, but not at home with my family. I don’t wear one in my car. I don’t wear one outside, unless I’m around a bunch of other people that don’t live in my household. That’s called common sense! It’s called science!

Kind of less about the mask and more about the fact that she's, you know, doing aerobics while a freaking military coup is going on in the background.
But if you wanna focus on the mask and herp and derp, have at it. And I'm still a registered Republican, BTW.
Seriously, who looks at that and worries about the mask? Weird world.

Just now watched the video.
Cool routine.
But that's got to be a fake coup: We weren't told about it in advance. No Trump flags. No CNN crews. No Antifa organizers. And Nancy is still running her mouth, so it couldn't have been too serious.

Biden raises refugee limit...
Feb 4, 2021, 2:57 AM
|
|
Under President Trump the # of refugees entering the US per year was(wisely) lowered to 15,000. Not only are refugees, (1) very difficult to vet, (2) are a strain on the US economy (i.e. tax payer); but (3) we're in the middle of a GD pandemic>No matter, the embecile Biden just raised the # to over 8 times Trump's 15k per year limit, to 125000 per year limit. Not a surprise though, Biden is behaving just like the sorry pos leftist that I already knew him to be-

A little confused on the meaning of the post.
Seems like this has gone down a mask vs mask-denier road. I didnt see it that way.
I saw this and basically saw a visual showing some woman going about her daily routine while all hell is breaking lose. Tweet will in my opinion age quite well. Pretty stark contrast in the events on screen.
Didn't think masks has anything to do with q's post.
