us are pretty dumb. If we lose to any of these clowns guess what. We've just "pulled a Clemson". We lost to #4 FSU and look how far we fell. LSU loses to UF and they're still in the top 10. Yeah, that has nothing to do with people's perception of the SEC. LSU has an amazing offense. They were just off that day.
Wake up people. Does a win over a crappy BC team excite you? Look how excited TNet got when we beat Auburn before we knew how sh!tty they really are. I don't know about you, but I want the other teams in the ACC to be killing OOC opponents and then lose handily to us. I fully expect us to annihilate VT, but VT sucks. I'll enjoy the win, but it won't be anything to brag about. If we lose......I guess we'll have pulled another "Clemson".

affiliation helps them. We win the ACC, everyone says look how weak the ACC is. SCAR finishes fifth but it's b/c the SEC is so tough. We have to schedule big time OOC games to improve our strength of schedule. SEC teams schedule cupcakes b/c the SEC is so tough.

you are correct.. i dont understand why peoplel dont understand that if we could get a win over Vandy, Kentucky, Ole Miss, Mizz, Auburn, Arkansas, Texas A&m, Miss. State or UGA how MUCH the national opinion would improve.
the SEC is a WEAK conference with 2 or 3 really good teams. the WORST offense we have played all year is a mid tier SEC team. Ball State and Furman were better than Auburn.... FACT stats dont lie. And we had Sammy for Furman.

truth is it really doesnt hurt us
everyone wants to whine about it because they need something to whine about
but in reality we went from unranked to 5th in the bcs standings last year in 8 weeks playing in this weak conference
as bad as the acc is it still gets enough respect to climb in the rankings
again from UNRANKED to 5TH in in 8 weeks
if we beat fsu this year wed be in the top 5 right now but we lost
we also have a shot to beat the snot out of carolina every year and settle it on the field rather than on the message boards..so we do have marquee games..not our faults auburn ended up sucking.. the game was scheduled over a year ago
so in the end..does it really matter? no
bottom line if we win all our games we are going to have a shot at the title but right now we arent going undefeated..thats not the acc's fault
also lsu fell from like 3 or 4 to 9 which is 5 or 6 spots..we fell from 10 to 17 so it really isnt that much different..should they have fallen more? yea..but i think we are going overboard now on how sorry we should feel for ourselves

how does that make sense? The premier teams in conference losing only hurts the brand and cheapens winning the championship. Since we'd already lost to FSU, it would've been better for us had we both won out. Clemson would've been in a BCS bowl and FSU would've been in the MNC. There would arguably have been more prestige in the matchup we would've gotten than in the Orange Bowl.
I'm sorry, but I just can't get all that excited over possibly winning an ACC that isn't perceived as having any great teams in it.

Agreed. I hope we eventually join the SEC for these very reasons.
I agree with Dabo that the Big 12 would have been a bad move; recruiting/away games - but the SEC is a perfect fit with all the benefits of recruiting, Strength of Schedule, perception and prestige.
I use to feel differently about ACC football, but within the last 6 years it has become apparent that the ACC IS more of a basketball conference
