I'm tired of reading all of these useless posts comparing former coaches....

We are 9-3 (1-0) and we are going into a stretch of ACC games that are very winnable. We had a good non-conference even with 2 very frustrating losses. Of the 3 losses we had, 2 were very competitive games. There are definitely some issues we need to work on, but there are a ton of positives in our first 13 games that we can build upon. The haters said we were going to do much worse in the non-conference, but they still aren't happy. Surprise, surprise. Here are my thoughts below.
- Our shooting: we lead the league in 3pt shooting, are 3rd in fg%, and are 4th in FT %. We won't shoot as well from 3 in ACC play, but we have shooters up and down the lineup - our passing: we are second in the ACC in assists per game. We are behind Miami who averages .1 more assist per game. It is very clear that this team is much better at passing than previous teams. The ball movement has been very smooth all year. We need to improve on turnovers. - leadership: it's clear that hunter Tyson is our leader. We did not have a team leader last year, and I think this is very important when it comes to late game situations. - PJ Hall is coming along: He is an elite offensive playmaker, and he has been scoring. He needs to continue to get into shape, and get better on defense - Schef and middlebrooks: they both have improved a lot and they are productive when in the floor. They will continue to be counted on tho spell PJ Hall And Tyson - Freshman: honestly the freshman have been a little disappointing. Beadle and Godfrey really can be good players for us, but just need some time. Same for Dillon hunter, and Wiggins. They are incredibly athletic and should get better with every game. - Galloway: I've really liked Galloway this year. He has great vision, is good in transition, and can hit big shots. He has been inconsistent with his shooting, but he has made an impact in every game. I kind of like him coming off the bench, like we saw last game. - Rebounding: the rebounding has been disappointing. Tyson is our best rebounder, but he is not very big. Hall will continue to get better as he gets back to 100%. We have improved as the season has gone on, but it still needs to be much better. It was interesting that we started Hall, Schef, and Tyson last game. I wonder if we will continue to do that. - Defense: defense has also been somewhat disappointing. Too many open 3's which lets the team get confident. This is something that I think will continue to get better as the season progresses.

Fantastic wrap-up & analysis of the season and our play this year. The Tigers have done much better than I thought they would this year. As usual, they should do much better within the league than predicted by most media forecasters. I share your frustration with most of our TigerNet posters.
I too share your disappointment with our freshmen class. A couple should be pretty reliable by the end of the season. However, most of our strength this year will be gone next year. I just hope Coach Brownwell and his new staff can develop our younger players, as well as recruit some HS high profilers and enough transfers to patch together a team that can match our current team's performance.
Thanks for your post--a much needed relief from the negative posts from our supposedly loyal TigerNet fanbase!

Every player on the team has eligibility next year aside from Tyson and Galloway. It's definitely not guaranteed, but I could see chase hunter coming back next year. It's also not a lock that PJ goes pro.

I believe this team will make the NCAA Tournament. Loyola was a bad loss but every other game either won and 2 losses by a total of 5 points

A lot of people just don't like Brownell...

but those same people don't like to look at ACC winning percentage, because at 48.4% it makes Brownell look good, and we can't have that.

9-3 is fair. But considering our competition, it is just that, fair. We have not played a single team that is currently ranked. The combined records of our opponents is below .500. One of the above .500 group is wake f. And they have now lost 3 of last 4. 2 or our 3 losses were to bad teams. So, let’s cool the jets and take it one game at a time. The ACC is historically bad this year, so, if there was ever a time to win it, this is the year. Clemson may not have moved forward, they moved backwards. Who would have thought Louisville and fsu would be so bad. Only Duke in the top 20 and they are not in the top 10.

I'm excited about this team's prospects this season

for sure. The ACC is wide open this year and we stand just as good a chance as almost anyone to make a nice run in the league. We've been here before, though, and the Lucy move still looms large, so hopefully you can appreciate the trepidation many have about getting too enthused about what lies ahead despite our okay start.
A lot of the comparisons you see are due to Brad being shoved down many's throats as being 'as good as it gets' here and all we are worthy of. He's been here so long now, though, and the pulse of this program has become so tepid - lukewarm - that many fans are simply harking back to times when there was more energy and excitement around our team, and putting Brad's stretch into perspective so we don't lose sight of our potential.
You can become inured to the ho hum if that's all you're exposed to year after year after year, alongside it being peddled as something more. If Brad can break us out of that, and keep us out of that - great! This season presents one of his better opportunities to start that process. We have a great bunch of kids on this team that are easy to pull for. It would be great to see them achieve something special. Hopeful Brad can deliver for them.
Go Tigers! Beat Ga Tech!

Nobody has said "brownell is as good as it gets" at Clemson.
