Do yall care about the gun celebration

Pretty much every TD I saw during the bowl season, players did the celebration where they were acting like they were spraying 2 guns.
Should it be outlawed or not worried about?

I noticed that aplenty and had no idea what it meant. Figured it was some type of new dance move. I don't have a problem with it because it's all mimicking from the NFL. Same with ints and fumble close to opponents ez. Group running to ez for photo opp. Let them have fun as long as it doesn't delay the game.
However, my personal opinion, what annoys me is play celebration. The stupid made a first down signal after every first down. Same with a tfl or qb sack... and now it's even a tackle for one yard pick-up. Especially when the next play, the offense scores a TD. Kinda makes that sack irrelevant.
Apologies Roybus, didn't mean to rant or hijack your thread.

Dwayne Allen was once lized for saluting after a TD on Military Appreciation Day

With the current state of college football, the gun celebration seems to fit right in with opt outs, transfer portal and NIL. Don't care for any of it, but dont see much being done about it either.

but this celebration business has been going on for a long, long time.
I recall seeing it among our own team way back in the Danny Ford years, even over relatively minor successes in close games. Made me think we needed less strutting and more hitting.
Most of it, of course, is designed to attract attention, and the younger fans seem to like it. Thus, I don't worry about it, chalking all up to our modern times.

I'm sure there were celebrations before then, but he is the guy who started it becoming a "thing."
Like George and his drum at the Astrodome started the wave.

I knew White Shoes back in the day. Tried to mimic his dance for him one time and he cracked up.
One of the first things that started it back in early 70s was slamming the ball down as you crossed the goal line.
I thought about 15 years or so ago they outlawed celebrations in college but it has slowly crept back in
Was it Dwayne Allen that got penalized for saluting on military appreciation day after a TD

Yep, they gave Dwayne saluting a cadet on military appreciation day. Funny thing, Brinningstool did it this year and was not penalized.

Bret, I think you have mixed up your Johnson’s? Butch Johnson of Dallas Cowboys did the California Quake followed up by the Texas 6 shooters in rapid fire. I know this because I was a huge Cowboys fan growing up. In high school I had a long punt return but got bumped out of bounds just before the end zone. I let the Butch Johnson 6 shooters fly anyway and my coach in film review said “what the hail was that!” Then he laughed. Haha. I don’t think White Shoes did the gun thing?

I'm tired of the policing of every thought and movement in our society.

I wish a societal norm would return so that objectional behaviors were communally understood.
I don't like the gun spraying dance but I'm not going to call for any sort of penalty. The throat slash also didn't warrant a penalty though I find it a bit distasteful and would not want my kids to do it in sports.

The NFL cares. DW4 and Justin Jefferson have been fined this year for making gun-like gestures. There might be more, but I know of those 2.

I’m attaching a screenshot of a Kentucky WR doing it after scoring the first TD against Clemson in the Gator Bowl.
Y’all, or some of you, want to downplay the influence of these types of things. Do we all understand the amount of publicity college football players have now? Kids see everything that is going on throughout the whole sport.
All over instagram, TV, YouTube, you name it nowadays.
If they’re going to outlaw certain celebrations for being volatile, I mean this is just as serious.
I’m not even a harda** like that. I really just don’t think this type of celebration belongs legally in sports.

You mean issues like players being arrested at programs like Georgia?
That is about the worst of the worst when it comes to college football issues.
And guess what, this celebration promotes that behavior.
This is going to get controversial, but it’s a point to make.
Kids that do not grow up in environments of violence do not get influenced by this type of thing the same way that kids who DO grow up in violent environments.
Kids that cannot help that they have been put in situations of consistent intentional gun use around them by older people and kids their age.
People will socialize and learn to act similarly to those around them the most. Mostly kids.
These are also kids that end up being college football players. And are the next generation.

They cycle through about 3 big celebration fads a season and players just copy each other. You see the same thing in European soccer, everyone copying the same 2-3 fad goal celebrations.
If you hate the current one, don’t worry it’ll change soon enough. Each one’s popularity usually doesn’t last that long

You clearly don’t know my age lol
I want you to send me a video of the New Orleans dance. I haven’t seen anything that has to do with what I’m talking about.
I checked your facts. And there was nothing to show.
This is also a link showing that they are guns you moron. It has to do with LSU and Ja Morant.
If you’re a sports enthusiast, maybe, you’d know who Morant is. But I don’t think you are, so he is an NBA star who plays for the Grizzlies. He’s been caught on live Instangram in a video with guns. One time for holding one, and other for his friend having one on live video as well.
Morant did that celebration after he came back from 1st suspension. Which is disappointing.
But there you go https://twitter.com/ComplexSports/status/1740011125096190389/video/1
