he had a half brother. We all went to meet them and he and his family became a part of our family.

My dad made a pretty good living for not going to college. His brother that was adopted graduated from Clemson with Honors and became an attorney and married an attorney.

Then yes.

Apparently my half uncle had a couple other half siblings as well. He has not been able to find his mom. He thinks she is dead.

Which was a military blunder for the allies. Onhis death bed he sat w me and gave me all the details. One of his jobs as officer was that every morning when they came out of the fox holes in the trench he had burlap sacks that he would go around pick up body parts from the shelling and collect dog tags.

I mean what the actual F! They were pinned in the marsh/landing zone in Italy for over 3 months before being able to break the lines. RIP Gramps

But he had a decent life after he got adopted... i dont think the orphanages were kind to him in Europe though. Military family adopted him when they were in Germany after the war. He now lives in California.

He did find his real birth mother but by then she had died in a car accident. The Dad was a POS and when he called him the dad denied ever even knowing mother. We knew through genealogy he was lying.

We did go up to Ohio to meet his birth mother’s family and they were some Fbcoach type peeps. Above ground pools, giant trampolines, his grandmas house smelled like a giant ash tray .

Dad got really lucky to be adopted by a wealthy educated family instead of staying w his birth family.

Grandfather was in the Navy and we always had a little suspicion that he might ACTUALLY be my dad's real dad and had him out of wedlock, but were never sure.

My dad never knew his father. His father left my grandmother b4 he was born.

And I am am only child (now, my mom lost a baby 2 years before I was born).

I am the last male with our last name (think Bruce). Our name legacy will end when my daughters get married.

Someday I may try ancestory.com to find out about my grandfather.

of a middle name.

My Mom's family name ended when her brother died before they had kids (and the other son died at 2 years old) so my Grandparents mentioned that their name would be gone once they were gone. Naw, I told them that day that I would name any son I had with that family name and my Middle kid has their last name as his middle name. He knows the importance of that name and will pass it on through his family as well.

It is a weird name though, hard growing up with Cuntpuncher as your last name, I am sure.

I found my real father when I was assigned to my second duty station with the US Navy. Discovered I had a half-brother that day. He had just retired from the US Navy a couple of years earlier. I changed my name back to given name at birth after Navy. Have tried to make the "family" thing work with him but it always remains a bit distant. Even gave a kidney to my half-brother in 2003... and he doesn't keep in touch either. Was it worth it - the time and effort... i don't really know. Brother certainly had a better life since 2003... so I can look to that.
