NIL payments to SOME players

Jul 2, 2021, 10:38 AM

I know what I am posting is not popular with most sports fans. But I think all funds from NIL should be put into a pool for each team. That money should be distributed according to the number of plays each player gets during a season.

Under the current system there will be O-Linemen who will play most plays of a game and season but receive zilch, zero and nothing.

There is no workplace in the US where a person is required to do the hardest and most unrewarding work and gets paid nothing

It will get to the point where high school players will refuse to play O-Line due to the restrictions of monetary reimbursement in college.

This system has not been thought out and has the potential to change football to 7 vs 7 competition.

I’m surprised it hasn’t already gone to a 7 on 7 game. When the HUNH offenses became vogue, you could sense linemen being a thing of the past. I’ve always said why would you want to take 5 men that on average are 6’ 4’’ and weigh 320 lbs and teach them to back up when the ball is snapped?

C'mon man.

So - take all of the money everyone makes, put it in a pool, and split it up evenly. What does that sound like?

Socialism, Comrade, Socialism.

The Democraps have been trying to take the USA down that road for years. They don't even bother to hide it anymore.

That’s called life. When I was a teenager I worked during the summer for my grandpa paving driveways and parking lots working in the hot sun and I saved up money and paid for my first vehicle. While the rest of my buddies got nicer vehicles and slept in everyday and hung out at the pool or playing video games all day cause their parents bought it for them. And I wouldn’t change it for the world cause it taught me to work harder than them and makes me appreciate my job more now. It’s what wrong with this younger generation. The “Everybody gets equal amounts because that’s what’s fair” is why they whine and cry about what they don’t have. To me it just feeds the entitlement. Don’t get me wrong, I wish things would have stayed the same but this NIL thing is here and it is what it is. But you also have to remember their not “getting paid nothing.” They are college athletes, they are still getting lots of benefits most college students don’t get. And I’m only 37 btw.

I feel like something like this may have worked as a compromise a few years ago if the NCAA had suggested it. I feel the players would've been more willing to agree to that because they would've gone from not making any money to getting money from that. It would've also been a way to make the impacts on recruiting less if it was pooled into sharing for all D1 football teams instead of the individual colleges. I think any chance of something like that being agreed to are gone though.

I would not put all the money in a pot to be split - I would suggest a percentage such as 25%. No, this isn't socialism, it is called TEAM. We have all seen great talent not reach their potential because of missing elements on a team. Offensive line is critical to both a QB and RB.

The money a player makes depends not only on the team. The school provides them with a stadium, training facilities, coaches, and marketing. Yes, and they they provide recruiting resources that get you those big guys blocking for you.

Them O-Linemen apparently need to drop 100+ lbs, take a second off their 40 time, and learn how to catch a football with one hand while leaping in the air and spinning around backwards. ??
