In entire CFB history, how many true Freshman QBs won Nattys

Just two:

1. Trevor Lawrence in 2018 with his truly historic performance for a true freshman
2. Jamelle Holloway with Oklahoma in 1985. He went 3 of 6 passing for 91 yds and had 12 rushes for 1 yd in the title game. They won with him, not because of him. He was only playing because Troy Aikman suffered a season-ending injury against Miami early that season.

As much as I like Cade, it would be beyond monumental for him to lead Clemson to a Championship this year. Considering Dabo is the only coach--EVER--to actually win a Championship by switching to a true freshman mid-season, it is pretty telling that he has chosen not to do so this year.

As a side note, with all the posts today, I checked to see if Dino Babers was an assistant on that Miami team when Aikman got knocked out--he wasn't.

Did you forget about Tua? True freshman who without a doubt won the national championship.

No I didn't. Tua was not the starter, nor did he get the team to the CFP Championship game. Jalen Hurts started all 14 and "took" Alabama to the Championship game. Tua came in the second half of the Championship game, and led a comeback in that 1 game.
