brought up as a point of concern, as if we are not getting OUR money's worth. Firstly, I doubt very seriously if anyone on this forum is even contributing one penny toward Dabo's salary.
Secondly, Dabo, like any other Head Coach, is being paid for PAST results, with the HOPE and expectation of continued success. That is the way the free market works in coaching in college football. Now, defining continued success as winning the Natty every year is just ridiculous. Saying that we are not getting our money's worth out of Dabo now is almost as absurd as some on here saying that Brad Brownell would be a better basketball coach if we paid HIM MORE money. Neither is true.
Nobody wants to see Clemson succeed more than Dabo Swinney. He crafted this program, his way, and is very protective of what he has crafted. He WILL make needed changes, but only when HE perceives the need for change. Garrett Riley is proof of that. We can flap our gums on social media until they are all flapped out, and it will concern him nada.
Has the start of this season been what I had hoped for, or even expected? No. But, things are not as terrible as all the Chicken Littles on here would have you believe, either. To say that breaks have not gone our way is the understatement of the century. Butt, here's the thing. We have a very YOUNG starting QB, learning on the job, who is getting better every week. We, and in some glaring instances, our coaching staff as well, have seemed to forget the fact that this is all new to a lot of guys on the team. They NEED to be "spoon fed" information down to the most minute detail, so that they do not make a wrong decision in a critical moment. That much IS on the coaches.
We will not win the National Championship this year. All who are not happy with anything less than that can bundle up their belongings and trundle on off down the road. We CAN still have a very successful season, by any measure other than that. That's not being a sunshine pumper, it is being a realist. There are some very good games left, against very good opposition. This team won't quit, even if their bandwagon fans already have. I, for one, am still along for the ride, just as I have been since 1972. Go, Tigers.

I am a 21 year IPTAy donor. I probably contributed a penny or 2 to Tommy's salary.
I doubt my meager Champion dotation even hits Dabo's salary. maybe 0.1 penny

not on one. So, close as you could get would be contributing toward Dabo's SON'S scholarship, but not Dabo's salary.
Clemson is certainly grateful for your, and my, and anyone elses contributions to IPTAY over the years. Butt, while they are appreciated, they do NOT give us the right to run the Athletic Department.
If the inmates of the Tigernet Asylum were allowed to run it, we would be 0-12 every year, but with a roster made up of 85 transfers, coached by Jimbo Fisher or Neon Deion Sanders, and it would look nothing like Clemson.

Revenue. In fact the opposite is true the athletic department actual returns a portions of its revenue to the university’s general academic fund.

He's a state employee so some of our taxes go toward it. Plus IPTAY donations may not go toward it, but revenue from ticket sales does. So your seat equity and ticket cost get factored in there.
This is from a Greenville news article several years ago:
Swinney, Martin, Brownell, USC football coach Will Muschamp, USC women’s basketball coach Dawn Staley and Clemson defensive coordinator Brent Venables are the only public employees in South Carolina with a salary that exceeds $1 million.

It’ll be fun to watch this group grow up during the 2023 season. It’s going to be even more fun over the next 2 seasons. Be patient everyone! Go Tigers!!

I don't think anyone here has a problem with the contract Dabo was given. He earned it.
But that contract wasn't just for what he's accomplished. As you stated, it also comes with the expectation of continued success - success which is commensurate with the contract.
Dabo hasn't met expectations the last three years. Period.

Yeah but I am jealous and wish I had that income. Do you ever think about that?
