Iptay Donation/Seats

3

Jul 23, 2023, 12:01 AM

I'm donating at the Riggs level for 2023. I began donating in 2010 (I was 21, with little money) and just accumulated 15 points over several years. I stopped when I began moving around, struggled throughout life, and now I am at a point where I can catch up for all the missed years.

I know Iptay has changed since back in my early days and donations probably do not take one as far as they once did given the success since that time, but I'm guessing the season ticket packet will still ask which seat area is requested. Could anyone weigh in on this? Also there would probably be a difference in what seats are offered by how many tickets I request and what is available? I want to go 4 and would think if someone didn't renew in those areas, they would probably have at least 4 tickets annually. Anyone weigh in on the difference in possible seating requesting 2 vs 4 tickets?

Thanks and go Tigers!

Not yet, probably should after donating at that level though, shouldn't I?!

I’m assuming you already put in your request for 4 since the request deadline was long ago. If you asked for South Lower closest to the 50, 2 would probably have a greater chance of getting you closer to Sec E or F than 4 but at the Riggs level you should do well.

As IPTAY execs like to say, it’s cute if you’ve been a long-time donor and devoted fan, but what have you done for me this year is what matters.

Sorry, meant for the 2023-2024 Iptay donation so I won't have the packet and ticket request until next July. So I'm assuming it is all similar, but it has been almost a decade and things have changed.

Thanks for that info though. I use to sell my upper level seats and buy 2 season tickets from someone in section F annually. That or E are definitely ideal.

I'll ponder over the year and decide to risk it or not. My son is still a few years away from wanting to invite friends, the other 2 I'll just sell at face value until that time if I chance and go for 4.

We were Heisman level donors for over a decade (before there was a Riggs level) and had 14 seats and three parking passes. All seats were South Lower (my preference was UE or UF, up from the portal, since you can see better and, if high enough near the luxury boxes/media booth, in the shade and out of the rain due to the Upper Deck overhang). If you get more than 4, they will likely be good seats due to your donor level and you can resell them if needed to recoup your costs if you might want control of those seats for later, and keep requesting better seats. StubHub rates UE and UF as less desirable than E and F so if reselling keep that in mind. We had row M in the lower Lower section (down from the portal) for awhile and it was hard to see the plays develop. But apparently buyers want closer to the field.

IPTAY has surprisingly not done like SCU and still doesn’t charge for parking passes. So getting a second or third parking pass is lucrative. More so now than ever as football parking spaces keep disappearing. But same as Seat Equity, I expect something like Parking Equity to come along soon. Those nice IPTAY offices need to be paid for by somebody.

I would meet someone up at the first game and just sell for what I paid for the extra season tickets. And I would not be mad at UE or UF, but I have always enjoyed around E and F. Definitely slightly more difficult to see plays towards the end zones than being a little higher though.

I don't know if the closer seats or out of the sun/rain would be spoiling my son more, but I want to do the one with the most struggle. Lol... "Life isn't perfect and can't have it all kid".

The parking passes are definitely a premium. They are probably trying to see if they can get another championship and then implement a type of parking equity system. Would not surprise me in the least. Is the number of parking passes by number of tickets requested (1 per 2 tickets) or do you just request a # and they put you where they can depending on number requested?.

Thanks for the info though. I just assume I know nothing at this point and am trying to gain some updated knowledge.

If you get 4 seats, at the Riggs level you get 2 parking passes, and in highly desirable parking lots too.
If you get 13+, you’d get a third pass in a lesser lot. At the Riggs level you are entitled to request up to 14 seats with your donor priority Those with more than 14 either had those from a long time ago or just ordered extra and are Upper Deck.

Parking pass detail is here: https://iptaycuad.com/app/uploads/2023/02/2023-Football-Eligibility-Chart.pdf

Lol...exactly. I honestly prefer they go off of points, but what drives the highest annual donations will supercede logic and loyalty.

We decided to do 2 and 2 seats figuring 4 together would be hard. Asked for the best seats in general area of both sets. Seats are good, can sell 2 if want to but are close enough that can get concessions for friends/fam easily in one run.

Getting 4 lower deck seats together

Is difficult at any donor level but especially on the south side. These are the highest donor level most longtime season ticket holders. You have a much better chance on the North lower deck, but this side faces the sun and is extremely hot in September.

Have you contacted the IPTAY office and asked to speak with someone about your request? That would be a good first step. I assure you that your request will be taken seriously. Ask to speak with Jason Wilson and he will direct you to the right person. If you are not successful Tmail me and I will meet with you promptly. I would not be in a position to help with seating and parking however.

Okay, thank you for your advice. I'm still a ways out since IPTAY just started for the 2024 season. But I'm really going big this year, not trying to waste anyone's time, just trying to get some updated information from what the community sees and their experiences :) 10 years since my last go around with the applications and I know things have changed.

I would talk to someone at IPTAY about your plans. Are you an IPTAY member currently? If not, I would join now at some level. Pay the minimum if necessary. Purchase some sort of tickets this season. Get your foot in the door. If Clemson wins the Natty this season, there are going to be others joining and doing what you are planning. Do something to give yourself priority ahead of the new folks. An IPTAY employee should be able to help.

I've donated 10 years ago but haven't recently. The end of the 2023 season yearly donations was 6/30, so I missed that deadline to get something on the books.

I agree this year's success may cause some increased donations, last year (prior to June 30th) could have been the better time to donate.

I've already locked in my Riggs donation for this year though, probably could have waited til season end to see how things worked out. But I'm fine with taking the chance.

As I browsed some prices, I was disgusted so figured I'll set myself up next year to not be dependent upon anyone else or stubhub. Lol

I left for vacation on 6/29 and forgot about the 6/30 2023 deadline. I am glad that you have already locked in for 2024. Welcome back to IPTAY. I am a middle level donor but have been a member for a while. I do not regret one penny of my IPTAY money that I have donated through the years.

Maybe I am missing something, but it has been my experience that it doesn’t matter at what level you give, if there are no seats available due to others ahead of you, you are not going to get better seats. A number of years ago I was given credit for an in kind gift of 25k plus I tripled my normal Iptay donation. I requested seats one or two sections closer to the 50 yard line (only 2 seats). I got the same two seats that I had been getting for years. The next year I dropped back to the minimum amount required for the section I was in. All requests were for the North stands.

You are not missing anything. You have to wait for seats to become available. If a person is consistently donating $25,000.00 a year, that individual will eventually get their desired section.

Re: Iptay Donation/Seats

Jul 23, 2023, 2:05 PM [ in reply to Re: Iptay Donation/Seats ]

Yeah I know it will depend on seats that open up, current year donation levels and then accumulated points. The 2 vs 4 tickets is my real dilemma on how much of a difference that would place me. Really, if I end up between the 40's somehwhere, I'll be satisfied. Outside of that will be a slight disappointment. I wonder if you already having decent seats played a role in them not getting any better? Don't know...just wonder how much they analyze to assign.

I can sell and upgrade until a down year which I could use the tax write off and make another Riggs donation. I'm thinking most people who make those donations are annual donors and already probably have seats. But if they move up slightly into better seats then their old seats come open and so on. But I plan to donate annually at a high level regardless. I'll just deduct the upgrade I have to pay stubhub from my annual donation if I'm not satisfied with the seats.

Appreciate the take on your experience, all of the comments help me know what to expect or not to expect.
