Is it possible that our O-Line has become

Sep 5, 2021, 1:28 PM

even softer than last year's?? Seems like that would be almost impossible, but I don't know.

The game this week will tell you all you need to know. If they continue struggling against S.C. State, we'd have to answer your question in the affirmative. Last night showed that Clemson's Oline could not handle one of the 2-3 best defensive lines in the country. But it may be stout enough to push most teams around.

I would love to agree but I dont think lights out this week tells you anything. We have more good players than SC State. If we are lucky enough to win easily all it shows me is we played and easier DL. I'm not sure we have an OL that can run block. I think all the RPO junk has killed our ability to hit people and drive them back.

we need an OL that can handle top 5 DL. We have recruited good OL players but seems over the last three years our OL play has gotten weaker. Something needs to change to correct this trend.

Dominating SC St will tell us nothing, not dominating will

No, I don't think so. I remember not too long ago that Fla St had 4 and 5* oline recruits and couldn't keep a QB upright. Essentially, imho, your oline unit is only as strong as your weakest link. True frosh on left Guard? Tackle? Anyway, he got a rude awakening to college FB. That's where coaching and other teammates have to know and scheme around it.

That would be fair except for the fact that the freshman played okay. It was Putnam and Bockhorst who got beat the most, who are the most experienced guys on that line.

Too early to tell because Georgia has a great defense.

I don’t think we have the strength and speed to keep up any more, not sure any OL coach can fix that without better players and guys who carry themselves like absolute beasts. Those Georgia boys looked like NFL players with their helmets off.
