Is Maryland that good or is Syracuse that bad?

I watched some of this game, and it looked like men vs boys.
Of course, the College Football Final crowd makes a big deal about Syracuse being the preseason 2nd best team in the ACC, and Maryland being the preseason worst team in the B1G. THEN, the pollsters put the Twerps right in the spot vacated by the Orange, and drop Syracuse 15 spots or so.
Based on the game, I think Syracuse earned the tumble down the rankings, but did Maryland deserve to move into the rankings? Seems like an upset like this should clear either a big move up for the winner or a big move down for the loser, but not both.

Probably a little of both. Maryland had a coaching change and has a good but of talent. I expected Syracuse to fall off drastically this year when they lost their QB from last year.

I promise we are not that bad. That was pathetic.
Are we as competitive as last year currently? Not at all.
But, everything could come together his week who knows! Likely? Not at all. This is probably going to be a long game for the home team.

it is still early. Sometimes a game like this happens and it may only be one game for you like this. I think we beat you but it doesnt mean you still cant have a good season. I admit I was shocked. I have a lot of respect for Dino and what he does.

I think a little of both but also that Syracuse was looking past MD to Clemson. I know absolutely that their entire fan base and media were. I know a ton of Cuse fans and was up there just a few weeks ago. I didn’t even know they were playing MD from taking to folks and watching sports coverage. They were talking the week 3 Clemson game all summer. They are a program with a very good coach and on the rise but in no way close to our equal, and in no way able to ‘look past’ an athletic opponent like MD. This was Dino’s first lesson at the power 5 level. He’s never been in the situation of a power 5 favorite. It showed in the results Saturday. Our boys will see and need to be ready for a different Syracuse team on Sat.

I don't think Syracuse was ever really very good. Yeah they've given us fits the last 2 years, but they couldn't have caught us at a better time for either game, and then we had our starting QB go down in both games.
Besides our game last year, they lost to a 7-7 Pitt team, lost by 33 to ND whenever their QB went down, and they were down 10-0 before he got hurt. They beat a 2-9 UNC team in double overtime, and they beat a WV team in their bowl game who was playing without their starting QB and #1 receiver, and Syracuse was still down by 1 point in that game entering the 4th.
I'm not saying they weren't good last year. I'm just saying they weren't anything special either, and they had back to back 4-8 seasons before that.

Let us not forget that Maryland is a haur - person of ill repute that accepts payment for actions provided to 31-0hio, Mich, and Ped State. May they know nothing but heartbreak and suffering at the hands of the worst abusers in college athletic world.
Maryland is notorious for having 1-2 great games and then being a completely broken team. Beat Texas twice, put up a fight to 31-0hio... and they were even up by 18 in my favorite game - the 2011 comeback. I would not put too much stock into Maryland as they found their honeyhole and kept going to it. Now that there is film on that team, expect and decent d-coordinator to have a better plan for MD. Also, they often have some decent first line talent that is thin by October... as their field generates injuries.
Next - Cuse melted down in that first half - you can't stop a team 14 points. That changed a lot in the game early. If anything, this game was similar to the 2012 Orange Bowl. One team melts down with turnovers and the other team has a easy working scheme.
The problem in that game was 'Cuse never adjusted well, became dimensional. Are they a bad team, no. But they are not as strong as last year and the issues are not immediately on the offense. Their D was decent last year, not sure what happened in this game but it was clearly a team not prepared nor was it able to make adjustments.
