List our problems and best solutions

Nov 27, 2022, 9:02 AM

-No leader on the defensive side like Skalsky down front or Turner back in second level
-Inconsistent coverage
-QB with no deep accuracy, no rhythm, no ability to read coverage, no touch or consistency on high percentage throws
- poor offensive scheming and personel packages(TE in the slot for a go against true corners)
-WR who can’t get separation, constantly moved off their route easily with no vertical leap and bad hands
-Running backs with bad hands and no back with a top end burst

**feel free to add to the list or put the best solutions for each issue**

You have a good list there. It all reflects on the Coaches. Dabo has unfortunately hired not one or even two but multiple people who cannot coach at the P5 level. He's created a major problem and needs to fire multiple people but won't. My fear is that we will have to be losing the division and the State regularly before he takes action.

it all starts with Dabo.....

Nov 27, 2022, 9:09 AM

he needs to ADAPT to the new age of College Football
he needs to STOP thinking everything he touches can and will "turn to Gold"
he needs to treat this program like the ELITE program he built and stop making it a training grounds for coaches, friends, family, & an Oprah scholarship factory.
most of all........Dabo needs to be hungry again........he along with the staff and players have become COMPLACENT.

Got something there. Its part of Dabo’s mindset that he can develop players, but we’ve seen several times now he has trouble. Trouble obviously with guys like DJ who have some skills but probably will never be complete enough to play at this level, and guys like Chad Kelly who had an NFL arm and release and was advanced reading coverage, who Dabo was not able to bring around to being an “All-In Team Player” who sadly never made it because of personal pride.

Hindsight is a great teacher but you have to be able and willing to see it. Notre Dame should be a hindsight moment but it has not been. It is easy to criticize from 10,000 feet and there are lots of armchair coaches ready to tell you about it. Coach Swinney has never hid from criticism and he wont now either. The offense was bad but its the regression that is concerning. I have watched high school games this year with more creativity and yet we still don't use the middle of the field. Klubnik should be given a chance and not just for one series. He appears to be a "gamer" but we are not at practice everyday. With that said, its easy to see when DJ doesn't have it and 82,000 saw it and 2 did not.

The comment ringing loudest from yesterday is Streeter saying they never considered a change. What game was he watching? Our two QBs are very different and give the defense something to think about in the way they attack the game. Outside of one throw he was 7/28 for 40 yards. No way you can win at this level with those numbers and they were not all drops. Not going through progressions and looking off where he wants to throw it glaring. If you are a receiver and you know he is going to a certain spot how much effort to you give when it doesn't matter and you know he is not going to look your way.

Let's not forget the defense, our top ranked defense at one point, gave up 31 points and over 300 yards to Spencer Rattler. They made him look like a Heisman candidate. Our secondary was terrible and needs to own it. His 80 yard TD was as much offense in one play as we had the whole second half.

This team needs to get hungry again. Add humility to your list and desire to be the best. Perhaps we should be glad that we don't face GA in the first round of the playoffs,

There were MANY receivers with separation and open yesterday, but they were the 2nd and 3rd reads and DJ never looked at them because he was locked in on the primary that was double covered.

Once he get s the snap and he looks in a direction, 99% of the time that's exactly where he's going.

I watched again and I agree, you are right. I counted 4. I turned it off in the 4th when DJ tried to hit a TE in the slot against a corner.

1. Bench DJ. You've got all you're gonna get, and there's no doubts left.

2. Fire streeter/bring in an offensive guru to be co coordinator and help him for at least a few years. Plenty of people out there.

3. Light a bonfire under Wes Goodwins rear end. Tough love is needed. Fundamental tackling and coverage drills until they need to can't miss.

4. Recruit faster/better DBs
Island guys. Booths, Alexander's, etc. Mukuba is good, but struggles in single coverage and our corners are really good at flying up on short passes but get lost on the back end too much.

5. Give it to shipley. Read it again, and then read it again.

6. Only run DJ as an honesty measure for the read option. Not as a staple.(if you're not gonna change the QB)

7. If a WR quits on a play, sit his rear end. I was so disappointed in Collins on that screen just stop and watch the ball fly right by him and hit the defender in the chest I wanted to break the TV. It's like oh no, the play didn't go exactly as planned, I ran into the other WR, so the play must be over. I guess I'll give up and look around until the ball sails right by me into the defenders chest. I love Antonio Williams, but running out of bounds without any effort going up the sideline is BS. Those 4 yards you just decided weren't worth it may be the difference, and oftentimes are. He's good, but I'd get on him for that.

8. Quit playing people based on practice, and play them based on game results. If Brannon Spector is awesome in practice, I DO NOT CARE. He doesn't catch anything in the game. He's dropped more balls than anyone I think.

9. Get Randall in 1 on 1s, and tell him if he wants to start, he better win over 50% of them, regardless of where they're thrown.

10. Involve the TEs in the passing game.

11. Quit the trick play crap on special teams and take the creativity to the offensive side. Not trick plays, but creative plays.

12. Throw a post/dig/corner/sluggo/wheel/seam/timing route. Stop with the sideline crap. Occasionally hit shipley but thats it. Unless the corners are 12 yards off, stop it.

Good stuff. I agree on the TE being used properly…big TE in the short game, high percentage completions with emphasis on their power and legs for YAKs to keep us on the field. Street uses them as decoys in the slot with true corners(nobody buys it) but DJ tried to hit one yesterday and he never even turned around and eventually just fell.

Remove the word "deep", other than that, carry on.
