What sticks out to me with the QBs

Aug 29, 2022, 11:34 AM

Is what David Hood said in one of his last articles on the offense. He said that there is ONE QB that stays late every day, and it is Cade Klubnik. I don’t know how many times DJ has stayed late or if he ever has…. What I do know is that if I had this much pressure on me to keep my job, I #### well wouldn’t leave before the guy most likely to take my job. I want DJ to play well, but it’s almost impossible to believe he is going to do enough on Saturdays to keep his job, especially if there is a more talented, harder worker behind him.

I guess we will see.

It has been reported here and other places....

that DJ stays after practice also. He has done a ton of work in losing weight and hiring a qb coach to work on mechanics and footwork. DJ may not be able to get it done. Time will tell. Implying that Cade ois 'the guy' because he stays after practice and not seeing that DJ has done to get better is uninformed.

I wasn’t basing my opinion off of that one article. Even in Spring game Cade looked better. I know it was a Spring game, but when was the last time a starting QB lost the Spring game to a new freshman?

I don't think it's fair to question DJ's work ethic

or dedication.

By all indications, he's worked his tail off in every facet of the job: passing mechanics, understanding the playbook, losing weight, improving his agility, becoming more of a leader, and working on his personal/emotional concerns from last year.

Coaches and writers praising Cade's work ethic should not be taken as evidence that DJ is lacking in that regard.
