In that Dabo isn’t competing against it measuring up to a historical standard, but rather one he’s created mostly within the last decade.
For example, Saban has written his legacy at Alabama but when he was hired he was being measured against a longtime standard there. Same thing for coaches at TOSU, Michigan, Texas, Oklahoma, etc. But Clemson had been largely missing from the national scene since the early 90’s.
If and when Dabo is ever let go because of job performance, it’s because he won’t be living up to….himself.
