Obviously this depends greatly on your family situation and desire to travel.

Me? No.

Would if pay was enough to travel back regularly.***

Nope. Hawaii is great but island fever is real. I need the ability to roam and stick in an island is r for me.

$400k and up annually, yep. I'd come out of retirement for that.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I haven't been there in over 20 years, but Honolulu was gross back then.

Agree on Honolulu but you can live on other side of the island.***

It'd be worth a longer look. The North Shore is pretty legit. And spendy af, I'm sure.

It ALL looks spendy AF.

But oddly, the higher you live in elevation, the prices get cheaper.

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I'd look in Kailua area. Fairly easy commute over to Honolulu. All spendy.***

I think 2 years would be my tipping point of having enough of island life.

I've got a buddy that lives in Curacao.

talking about and not just daydreaming, DON"T DO IT. Do you recall what a total train wreck your moving to Clemson was? Now imagine that with NOTHING familiar and nothing else close. I see you back in the low county in 6 months and maybe this time housing really will bite yer keister.

Hawaii is a dump. Well, I mean except for the nice tourist areas.

It's expensive AF. Time zone is F'd. Too GD far to travel ANYWHERE else on earth.

I'd take the Caribean all day long over Hawaii.

Sure, sounds like an adventure. If the money is right,

Thats the thing..money.

I don't think they are down with paying me twice what I'm making now, but everything I see, that is just about the conversion rate.

But really, compared to 3 years ago, that could be said for here, too.

Honolulu is the absolute worse part of all the Hawaiian Islands. If I could afford it I'd consider living somewhere in Hawaii but never in Honolulu.

Triangulate salary + family/spouse + happiness in current community/network.

We're pretty settled in our community/network and kids have a ton of friends. It would take a stupid amount of money to make us money.

However if single or no kids, I'd consider for a lesser amount assuming they cover COL. Would be a fun adventure.

Plus Honolulu traffic sucks and everything is expensive.

Hard no.

Only island I would consider is the Big Island(Hawaii) as there is so much geologic and climate diversity to keep things interesting, but Honolulu is just not somewhere I'd want to even visit again, much less live there.
