Why are these ncaa games

Scheduled for so late. Start times after 10 are ridiculous. Games can’t start at 6 and 8.

If they started at 6 or 8 the people out West would still be at work.

They were at work during the first and second rd games. What’s the difference. People are still gonna show up and/or watch on games on tv.

Two of last night’s games were played in San Francisco.
That means the double header there started just after 4 pm and ended just after 9 pm. Then the folks went to dinner. Not too late to them.
When I lived out there I remember fans complaining about having to be at the stadium by 6 pm to make the kickoff for Monday Night Football. Almost impossible in Bay Area traffic.
Only place I’ve ever lived where on Sundays in football season, pastors lost many of their parishioners for Sunday School. When Dwight Clark, Archie Reese and Jim Stuckey played at their division rivals in Atlanta, the games began at 10 am in San Francisco.

The utter stupidity of having the Falcons and the Braves in divisions with teams on the west coast for so many years was one of the reasons they had limited success.
Braves, Reds, Dodgers, Giants and Astros I think it was? Take a #### geography class to please!
Falcons, Saints, Rams, 49ers?? Loco.

Because 10 for us is only 7 in the West. The networks understand they cover the entire country and ratings include the whole country. Use your DVR if you can't stay up.

East coast bias is real

It’s a national tournament the games held on the west coast should accommodate people who live in the west.

It’s a lose lose. We accomodate the West and the Eastern folks are asleep. They are normally up by 9-10 in the morning anyways so the whole country should be awake. Makes a lot more sense if you want max viewership. DVR ing a sports event has never made sense. Could careless about watching something that I already know the outcome. Why does college football and basketball have noon starts? NFL starts games at 1 pm.

I have always thought the East ruled seeing the nation watches the ball drop on New Years in New York and of course because it is the time zone for Clemson, SC.

Glad it works out that west regional games are so late. This tournament was originally set up so that each region could determine a sectional champion and then put them up as a representative for the national prize. It’s changed a lot now that we don’t restrict the brackets to teams from that geographic region but I still think we should give folks who live in those regions preference over the others. Also, don’t forget the first game in that region began at 7:05 eastern which is 4:05 local time; so move it up too much and they’re watching the games over lunch.

I think the San Francisco game had more to do with location and time zone of game than on viewership. A 930 start on the east coast is a 630 start on west coast.
