The NCAA has got to be done
They must know it, but every decision they make like that is contributing to its own diminishing.
It’s not 100% their fault. They just simply cannot say no to many of these new rules.
2-minute warning? Why not add it and make it more like the NFL of course. More money.

Here is the definitive change in the rule.

The previous NCAA one-time transfer rule allowed athletes to play immediately at their new school, but a player had to sit out a year or apply for a waiver to play immediately if they transferred a second time.
********
Remember the UNC DB who was not allowed to play immediately when he transferred to UNC last year (his second transfer)? He applied for a waiver and initially it was denied. Then, for some unknown reason (maybe threat of a lawsuit by UNC?) the NCAA granted his waiver mid season.
I'm aware of this because the same thing happened at FSU. Kid transferred into FSU. Was projected to be a starting DT, or at least in the rotation and getting plenty of PT. It was his second transfer. He applied for a waiver and it was denied. FSU appealed the denial and that was denied. After the UNC DB was ruled eligible, FSU appealed again. Again, it was denied.
The point is, it appears the NCAA was just randomly deciding who was eligible and who wasn't. Now, they have changed the rule. I suspect they changed the rule because they knew if they were ever challenged in court they would lose (just like they are losing every court case they are involved in).
Now, everyone is eligible. They don't have to go through the sham of an appeal and approval (unless for some unknown reason the NCAA decides to deny it).

In the next year or 2 it will be mid season eligibility. Someone is going to sue over the limited transfer opportunities and they'll cave unless there's money in it for them.

Players are going to have to sign contracts.That will put an end to all of this. Of course the best olayers will hire an agent to negotiate with schools who offer and the best offer and contract will be signed. I don't know why we are not already doing it. Probably because the colleges are not common sense business acumen people.

then have to change their rules to reflect the court's decision. Transfer eligibility is just one of those. We shouldn't complain, we are just getting what we have been yammering for for years, which is less oversight by the NCAA.

In light of all the transfers, I wonder how that actually impacts their coursework. I recall some credits might transfer but others won’t. Additionally colleges would have a certain number of credits you must take in order to get a degree from their institution which could essentially mean additional classes. So do colleges accept all of the individual’s credits, or does it not matter because athletes are not necessarily trying to get a degree?

Hate to sound like a conspiracy theorist but this is all part of a major plan to destroy every tradition, organization, sport, religion and government of what we know as Western Society and Culture. College football is too entrenched in American Culture and has to be taken down, according to the Leftists who build nothing but destroy everything. It began years ago, bit by bit, and is now well under way........sadly.

Not a lot the NCAA can do about placing any sort of restrictions on players. Courts and lawyers and players all want to kill the golden goose.
NCAA pretty much forced to set new "rules"...these will be challenged later, too, I'm sure.

Elsewhere:
Division 1 college athletes who had been denied the chance to play immediately after transferring because of the National Collegiate Athletic Association’s (NCAA) Transfer Eligibility Rule are now free to compete, according to a new ruling.
On Wednesday, a federal judge granted a 14-day restraining order to Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost and six other attorneys general as part of their antitrust lawsuit against the rule.
“Right now, you can’t make a player sit out a year,” Judge John Preston Bailey said.
The ruling keeps the NCAA from enforcing the transfer rule until at least Dec. 27, when the judge will consider the motion for a preliminary injunction to extend the order until a full trial can be held.
The judge also prohibited the NCAA from enforcing its Restitution Rule, which would allow the NCAA to punish athletes and their schools in retaliation for this action.
As News Center 7 previously reported, the transfer rule requires college athletes who transfer from one Division 1 school to another to sit out one year before competing in games unless the NCAA waives the rule for a particular athlete.
“We’re challenging the rule to restore fairness, competition and the autonomy of college athletes in their educational pursuits,” Yost said.
Yost was joined in the lawsuit by attorneys general from Colorado, Illinois, New York, North Carolina, Tennessee, and West Virginia.
