Augustine said, “He who denies the existence of God has some reason for wishing that God did not exist.”

Religion is about ritual, traditions, and control. The religious leaders throughout history had taken God’s law and turned it into a burden for the people. The religious leaders at the time of Jesus had turn religion into a business. Jesus came to overturn religion. That is why He focused on the religious establishment of the day.

The Law showed us God’s expectations of His people. But, we couldn’t keep it. So, the sacrificial system was established. At the right time, Jesus came to reconcile our broken relationship to God the Father by being the perfect sacrifice to make atonement between God and man.

Therefore, I practice my faith and my relationship with Jesus Christ. Am I perfect? NO! And, will not be until the day I die. However, my faith is in the fact that Jesus paid my debt of sin on the cross. He redeemed me. Therefore, I do my best to follow Him. That includes paying taxes despite my opposition to some of the things it is wasted on.

I am sorry if you have been offended by a religion-oriented church. Find one that teaches faith in Jesus Christ and not one that preaches religion over relationship.

You are on the mark. We say in our circles that there is a difference between Christianity and the Christian religion. Christianity transcends the Christian religion and cannot be pinned down by it. The Christian religion is what men turn it into so they can get their arms around Christianity and attempt to control it. In the end, we participate in the Christian religion because that is where we meet other Christians which is to say that not all people participating in the Christian religion are Christians at all.

Matthew 5:22 - the Greek word used for 'anger' is orgizō meaning "to provoke to anger", or "to be provoked to anger"

Matthew 21:12-17 - the Greek word for 'cast out' is ekballō meaning " to send out", "to drive out", "to expel". This was an act of judgment and righteous indignation.

Indignation is something society does a lot based upon their perceived notion of righteous and based upon ever-changing societal fickleness. However, Jesus is righteous and was acting in righteousness.

God (and Jesus) condemned deviant behavior. And, He let it be known that it is a sin. He also condemned pride. Matter of fact, it is the most mentioned sin in the entire Bible. By the way, sin is sin, also. It is rebellion against the holiness and righteousness of God. There are no degrees of sin. And, every single person on the face of this Earth, past and present and future, has or will sin.

It doesn't mean that He didn't love those who committed the sins. He does. I am sure you are familiar with John 3:16. God has provided forgiveness of sin by faith in Jesus's sacrifice on the cross. There is absolutely nothing we can do to earn God's forgiveness. It is by His grace and mercy alone. Read Ephesians 2:8-9 and Romans 3:21-26.

So, if you have grievances with God, you are welcome to have them and voice them. Just be sure you are willing to face the consequences.

I have no grievance with God; I don't believe he exists. The same way I don't have any grievances with Zeus, Allah, Satan, Buddha, Joseph Smith, etc...

I only have issues when these man-made texts are used to justify harming or oppressing others. To be clear, my grievance is with other men, not any deities that I'm not aware even exist.

You are, like so many others, over generalizing a true Christian. You expect us to act how you think we should act like. True Christians seek to be more like Jesus Christ, not like others in this world. Are we perfect? No. I have clearly stated that. And, I know for a fact, you aren’t, either. No one is, except Jesus Christ.

And, therefore, no, religious people do not have the high ground. Neither does any man-made institution since mankind is fallible and fickle. God does have the high ground.

And, I know no true Christian who will cheer for a serial murderer. And, if you are referring to the Westboro Baptist clowns, I know of no one who is a Christian who support their tactics and rhetoric.

As quoted earlier, “He who denies the existence of God has some reason for wishing that God did not exist.”

Plus, it seems they focus entirely on Jesus's love and acceptance and do not bring in the judgment aspect of His character. Yes, Jesus loved us so much that He died for us all. However, He also taught judgment on the religious authorities, unbelievers, and unrepentant sinners as well. You cannot separate those two divine aspects of God.

"When I was young, I was sure of many things; now there are only two things of which I am sure: one is, that I am a miserable sinner; and the other, that Christ is an all-sufficient Saviour. He is well-taught who learns these two lessons." -John Newton

“If anyone comes to me and does not hate his own father and mother and wife and children and brothers and sisters, yes, and even his own life, he cannot be my disciple"....Jesus

What did he mean by that? Not hate as in despise, but by comparison in dedication....
