Justin Upton to Braves

according to Ken Rosenthal of MLB.network. Principles in place and should be announced soon. Heck of an OF with the 2 Upton's and Heyward. Deal for prospects including Delgado(RHP).

player but between Johnson and Francisco he'll be replaced well at 3B. Delgado is the only one of the prospects I've heard of, but I'm sure their is some quality there. Braves OF now all under contract for at least 3 years

How are y'all excited about losing or best base hit hitter? Prado has been the most consistent bat in the braves line up for at least 3 years!

But a free agent after this season.

The Braves felt it better to get something in return for him now than get nothing for him at the end of the year. Johnson is a different kind of hitter (more power), but can still hit.

The kid has power but we need some base hits. Uggla is terrible McCann is washed up you don't resign Bourne Chip us gone. So what's your lineup? You got the Uptons then Freddy and Jason who else scars anyone in that lineup?

McCann is 29. He battled injuries last year but he's far from wasched up. Simmons will be one of the games best short stops for years and he handles the bat well. I don't like losing Prado but the production you get back from Upton makes up for it. I like the lineup and the pitching staff, i think it sets up for a big year for the Bravos.

I agree about Uggla, but McCann is way too young to call washed up. They are definitely going to miss Prado, however. He's a great player.
I'm ready for baseball already. Yeah, I know. My Gamecocks pretty much suck in basketball, so that makes me even more eager for baseball. First college and then the majors.

I don't see Prado as their best player in their line up
Jan 24, 2013, 10:51 AM

he was the most versatile player.....played 2nd, 3rd, and LF. Simmons and Heyward have a much higher ceiling than Prado.

He has already hit his ceiling. Not so with some of the other guys.
Prado will be missed, but they do have a viable replacement, and it is viable beyond this season.

Prado will be a FA after the season and will seek a 15 mil deal. He's already turned down a multi year deal from the Braves. This is a good decision. It also will allow the Braves to resign BMac after the season.
The line up is scary top to bottom.
Simmons - Great avg hitter with speed. Hits to all fields Heyward - .280+ hitter with power and speed JUp - .280+ hitter with power and speed BMac - .290+ hitter with power Bup - Power and speed Freeman - .280+ hitter with power to all fields Uggla - Power and 10-15 SB's and very streaky Johnson/Franscisco - between the two you have both power and .260+

Braves must have had some indication they weren't going to be able to resign Prado in the offseason. Prado was one of the most underrated and quietly productive players in baseball and I hate losing him.
