… and you’ll get FSU. FSU is everything wrong with todays college football.
FSU had over 20 players opt out of the Orange Bowl against a big time Georgia team.
Clemson had MULTIPLE NFL bound guys stick around and play in the Gator Bowl.
Look at the FSU kids who opted out… and tell me how many are portal kids?
Benson? Oregon
Coleman? Mich St
Wilson? Arizona St
Bell? Chickens
Verse? Albany
Lovett? Miss St
This is what you get if you rely on the portal to build a roster. FSU better be glad their class is signed. This is embarrassing. Don’t think Dabo won’t use this in recruiting. I would.

The top portal guys are usuall looking for minor league cash 💰 💵.
Over $1 Million plus is the going rate for an impact player.
Creates poor morale, like a cancer to buy a player for 1 year. While multi year starters get ZIP.
80% don’t end up helping the team, 40% of portal guys end up losing their ‘paid’ college education.
No teams can afford to pay all their players $1 Million. Texas is paying Arch Manning $3 Million to to sit on the bench. Ohio State paid $1 Million to get the Texas starting QB to leave high school early after his junior year, and he is starting for Texas today!
Texas A&M paid for #1 recruiting classes and $75 Million for an ex-coach.
I still like Dabo’s system, only time will tell. 2024 looks good….

Sorry for the TU because I care if players opt out of BG’s. These players are taught how to improve their skills, put on special eating habits, developed physically and mentally at the expense of their school. They play 30 plus games go through hundreds of practices, play recreational sports while in college. Oh yeah they also get a free education and can now earn earn money from NIL and if they can transfer at will through the TP !!!
They get numerous perks and exposure as a result of being on the football team. They wait until a big game especially for the fans to opt out for health reasons.

Yep if portal players was the answer. If you are going to run a program like Dabo currently does portaling will never be a huge part. Someone mentioned they lack effort in trying but I would say they are exhibiting more effort and energy into high school recruits.

Anyway, I agree with you, and I think Dabo is about to show the College football world the best way to do things. Imagine when Dabo has the national stage again and preaches loyalty and culture! Oh, it's going to happen, there are powers beyond comprehension behind Dabo!!

Since the "run," we have refused to seriously try to improve our roster with players who could help us like every other serious program: Alabama, Ohio State, Georgia (they beat us with one of our transfers even), etc.
And don't get me started on the coaching hires (granted they are slowly being fixed now, but just proves my point).
Shoot, Ole Miss has built a pretty solid team with portal players and would beat us by 14 this bowl season.
And his BS about FSU, the same people want to give excuses why we scraped by Kentucky (who sucks btw) not having our opt-outs. Yeah, it happens to us too without any portal players.

The thing we’re stuck on now is we’re not going to guarantee starting spots for any recruit, portal or otherwise. Transfer kids don’t typically go anywhere to be depth. We tried on several guys.

Let’s hope not. They were not in my top 4 with their QB. Which wins did they have that impressed you personally? Did you not think Clemson(mind you were not very good then and led basically the whole game) should have won that game. LSU was not what the media had them made out to be either. Great season but definitely no where near Bowden’s championship teams, and it’s not even close.

If we got the wr out Texas am or the de from I believe Purdue it would make a difference. It’s not like getting 8 or 9 portal players. FSU will be a contender for the ACC next year because of the portal.

Some of you are unwilling or unable to do anything other than rubber stamp anything Dabo does.
Clemson football has underachieved three years in a row. We are supposed to be an elite program, but instead we are dancing in the locker room after a last minute victory over a mediocre Kentucky team in a bowl game before the new year. you have never once - not one single time - ever acknowledged any fault by Brownell that did not come with an immediate caveat explaining why it was inevitable due to lack of institutional or fan support. As usual, you are a liar.
You also have absolutely no idea how aggressively we have pursued positions of need from the portal. Simply signing warm bodies serves no purpose. How about instead of calling Dabo "idiot" (your words in a separate post in this very thread) you give him a fraction of the benefit of the doubt you give Brownell. "Maybe, just maybe" the 10 time division winning, 8 time conference champion, and 2 time National Championship winning coach is at least as knowledgeable as you about deficiencies, who is available to fill them, and whether they are interested in transferring to Clemson.
We know based on your numerous posts over the years that you hold Clemson's fans and culture in contempt and view yourself as wildly superior. But it is actually insane that you truly think you know better what would work for the football program while Dabo is at the helm than Dabo himself.

Any Clemson player who has a chance to be drafted in the fist round opted out. Any player who stuck around and was draft eligible played only as a means of trying to boost their draft stock. Tyler Davis is a beast, and by all accounts a good dude, but if he was projected higher in the draft he wouldve opted out. Same goes for others. FSU lived, and ultimately died by the portal. The problem is systemic. Until the NCAA regulates NIL and the portal this will continue to be the normal. Additionally, until we play in the portal with any real vigor we will continue to lose players like Mukuba. Its a double edged sword.

Let me define the following statement first by saying I believe Dabo utilizes the portal by giving the 'misses,' in recruiting a valuable option to transfer and play without sitting out a year.
However, recruits would love to join a program which is going to lose a ton of players just before bowl season. It gives the young ones a chance to show off what they've worked their tails off for all season.
If a fan doesn't find some comfort in seeing what's in store for them with the younger players being on the field then the loss is crushing to them.

We need to also think about the players recruited by Clemson who enter the portal because the offense cant move the ball or throw it longer than 10 yards. No "star" reciever is going to come to Clemson or stay with Clemson if their skills are not highlighted.
Next year when the NCAA playoff goes to 12 teams I think we might see my players playing but why play now? Think about it would you continue to go to work if your company was bankrupt and you had a pending job offer.
